If we’re going by a collective body of work, Rob Zombie has been more diverse because of his directing career. But, having seen both in concert (as White Zombie) twice, I’d give the stage presence to Manson. As for the music itself? Nothing beats “Cake and Sodomy”.

Zombie is the man, there is no way Marylin Manson or any other puny earth mortal could defeat his greatness. Hell, his beard could beat up MC as far as I’m concerned. Zombie’s one of the most creative guys I’ve ever seen, his music videos, his movies, and everyone loves Captain Spaulding. As for Marylin Manson, he removed his ribs so he could give himself head. Creative, yes, beneficial to us, no.
I prefer Rob Zombie for his films and his music. I enjoyed Zombie’s remake of Halloween more than the original, which a lot of people are shocked by for some reason. You simply cannot match the awesome of Dragula, Living Dead Girl, Superbeast, Return of the Phantom Stranger, etc.

Come on people, Marilyn Manson is way better than Zombie! I used to think it was the other way around and then I started listening to some of Manson’s work, and I gotta tell ya, it has a much deeper message. Marilyn Manson is misinterpereted and misunderstood by society in so many ways it’s sad. He NEVER EVER got two of his ribs taken out so he could give himself a BJ, that was a rumor started by some anti-Manson Christian group during his 90s era. Have you fools ever compared the two’s music videos?!? Rob Zombie’s are about the lamest I’ve ever seen, there is no meaning behind the whole thing and the Dragula one is just plain ridiculous. Manson doesn’t need a movie-making career, he kicks Zombie’s ass in the music department, and that’s all that matters. He’s more intelligent, he’s a better song writer (just listen to “1996” and “The Beautiful People”), and he’s a hell of a watercolor painter. I’m telling you, don’t let the way he looks or what other people tell you distract you from his awesomeness. Manson owns, Zombie blows, peace.

its tough to pick MM might lose just bc rob is his own band ( wasnt always ) but really I wouldnt argue either way I just hate that people think its that far apart that 1 is so easily better than the other is just blind fanboyism
@ Alex The story is he used to have a drag car called Dragula. Listen to the words and watch the vid. All of zombies songs have meanings, it just seems like your the one who needs to look deeper. As for careers, Zombies accomplished much more and has had a much larger fanbase. I used to think MM was just okay when I was 12, but as I grew up his musics just gotten lamer. Zombies music is just pure punch you in the fucking face, while MM is just weird technoy-rock-weird. I just can’t listen to MM without getting pissed. I’m just a wee little metal head in Miley Cyrus and Jonas brother ruled world, not much I can do about it.
I used to be big into MM as a teenager, and I still love his music. But now I’ve realized that I fit the zombie image better and my life is very removed from Manson’s world, as cool as it may be. But Manson and Zombie are difficult to compare.Zombie is more fantasy oriented, but Manson is more sociopolitical and realistic. Although they are similar in the elements of horror, metal and shock rock I don’t think any person can definitively call one better unless it is a preference in genre.
tl;dr I prefer Zombie.

this is very interesting discussion and comaprision of two good musician. I know very well all discography of both guys and I must say one…. MM is the best artits i have ever heard. As he sing: He is not artist he is f….ing work of art…… People you must listen more deeply. Yes RZ is good too but When I listen to RZ after few tracks it start to bored me and every song and album sound similar (except album American made music to strip by …..which is all mixed ) For example track Dragula is his best track but only mixed version….that is what is missing in his tracks and what MM has…….Listen to MM tracks is really exciting…..every track sounds another and every album has its own style and it developes wiht age…..MM has talent and sense for details. In his tracks are a lot of hidden deep sounds and amazing voices. I am not English and I translate all his discography….I cannot say i agree with all his opinions. For example I am catholic and believe in God. But I dont care…In his lyrics is a lot of truth…..I saw and listen MM alive. I must say he is not very good singer but he is very charismatic man. When he stands on the stage i felt energy. His singing sonds better when it is customized with special effexts. That all is what makes MM exceptional. And who looks beter? Just compare two pictures above

I love Rob Zombie but Marilyn Manson wins. No Contest. It can’t be done there’s not one person on earth that can convince me otherwise. I’ve seen Manson live once and I’ve seen Zombie live 3 times. Better stage show goes to zombie. Better stage presence and theatricality goes to manson. Rob zombie is great iof u just wanna headbang or rock out to somethinbg heavy, but manson is a true ARTIST. People seem to have forgotten that word.
Well isnt this a sad state of affairs? What could have been a great discussion about two of the greatest artists of our time has turned into a childish name calling battle. My fellow fans, there is no war. Rob and Manson are friends. They are both fantastic. Of course everyone has their own opinion and everyone will like whomever they like anyway, so perhaps my comment here is useless. But I only decided to comment because I have absolutely loved these to bands/artists for the majority of my life. Manson is indeed deeper lyrically, and visually. He was and is a spokesperson for free speech and independent thought, (much in the likes of George Carlin and Anton LaVey in my opinion). He is a philosopher. Oh if only people would take the time to see through the lies of the mindless masses. He has made intellectually stimulating music videos, and art of all kinds (spoken word included) and lest we forget his brilliant autobiography entitled: Long Hard Road Out Of Hell. He is a brilliant man and his music is of the best out there. Right up there with The Doors, Lennon, Pink Floyd and every other controversial free thinker who enjoys challenging the public. Rob on the other hand is a brilliant song writer, artist, film-maker and illustrator. He has had comic books out, 5 great films, and a bunch of awesome rock music. For the most part, he likes to stay away from politics and ideas in his songs, and instead just enjoys making music for himself and his fans. My mom was afraid of both of them for being “satanic rockstars”. I’ve been a devout fan since about 2000, and I will continue to follow their work as two of the most important people in show business today. Both has pushed the limits of restraint and of censorship. I applaud them for being true to themselves, and to all of us fans.
Anyway, I love them both and only decided to respond to this nonsense because it breaks my heart to see such utter hatred and competition these “fans” try to instill. Why not embrace these great artists? They are both amazing. They have many similarities, and they have many differences. But anyone who has dared to go the direction either of them had, within this society of stupidity and record-exec-made- bands, boy bands, and all the filth and crap out there that is just sucking away at our brains. All the reality shows, and the bullshit, all the mindlessness. These are two guys that will never bow down. They are true artists. I, of course, like them for different reasons. If my mood demands food for thought, Manson is my man. If i’m more in a fun and horror mood, Zombie all the way. Give them both a chance. And never listen to friends, family, critics, fans, idiots, the uninformed, or anything else that will direct you away from the truth. Research everything. It’s hard to cut through the bullshit in this life. Don’t believe rumors. Don’t hate something because of what some asshole might have said to you. I assure you, you will thank me. And if you even like either of these bands a little bit, do yourselves a favor and also check out: The Murderdolls, Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, The Doors, KMFDM, Motley Crue, and Dope.
