When this idea was first suggested, the first thing I thought of was how funny it would be to watch characters respawn as they get pummeled by the opposing forces. There are soo many entertaining ways for all these characters to eliminate the others that I might just pay to watch that, no matter the outcome.
For this match, it’s Capture the Flag assault style – both teams are on offense and defense at the same time. First team to capture 3 flags win. Battleground – New York City. Team 1’s Flag is on top of the Empire State Building. Team 2’s flag is on top of the torch on the Statue of Liberty.
Rules: The flag locations cannot be destroyed or damaged in any way – if the opposing team even scratches the location, they automatically lose (gotta make this somewhat strategical). Citizens are not protected.
Which team would win?
Oh now, By putting Kharn there he wins by default…..lol.
Kratos and Kharn being on one team means instant victory, same with Samus (Mario can just sit this one out).
Superman is extremely powerful (and the rest of the players are almost useless on thus level), but the combined might of the bounty hunter, Khronate champion and the god of war (who I think is the only true match) could bring him down.
…course that depends on which age of superman….
Team 1: Samus and Link could defend the flag while Master Chief and Kratos go on the offensive. This way both groups have a close combat specialist and a long range specialist. Chief can use the warthog to approach at high speed while Kratos guns down anyone who approaches with the turret. I’m sure the God of War can handle some postmodern weaponry. Samus stands atop the building ready to snipe anyone who approaches with her arm cannon, while Link mans a lower position within the building, bow at the ready. He can defend the lower floors and slowly back toward Samus if enemies penetrate the building, at which point the two Nintendo warriors can double team their opponents.
Team 2: Kharn and Superman are more maneuverable and suited to an urban environment, so they go on the offensive while Vader and Mario defend.
Superman flies over the cityscape while Kharn uses a jump pack to traverse the terrain with ease. When they reach the ES Building, blasts of plasma and heat vision will deter any defenders while they snatch the flag.
Mario can stand on Lady Liberty’s torch, blowing away enemies with his fireballs while Vader hefts tons of the surrounding buildings with the Force and tosses them at attackers.
Verdict: Chief and Kratos will meet their ends at the hands of Kharn and Superman. They’re no match for them. Upon reaching the ESB, Superman will fuse Samus’ armor, making her completely immobile. Link and Kharn will fight it out in an extended battle leading to the death of Link. Meanwhile, Superman has already snatched the flag and returned to the Statue in under a second.

Ugh, well then Superman or Kratos win because they both are/can be extremely fast and Kratos can stop time for periods and what not. I can’t even really judge on this accurately…

In this battle the powerful ones (superman, Kratos and darth vader) will be the only ones who will be standing at the near end of the battle but i for one think that superman or vader will win

This WAS a very interesting match in principle, but the inclussion of the man of steel trumps that. Not only could he litterally ignore everything other than the flags while flying circles around the ground combatants, but the scenario give free access to the flags.
No matter what defense they could muster (Kharn and Kratos guarding), supes can still manage to grab all three flags from under their noses. Kharn better hone his detection skills if he hopes to give Kratos enough warning for him to stop time when Supes gets close. That is litterally the only chance their team would have for not loosing terribly.
Then again, that would leave only Samus and Mario to get their flags. I think Vader might ROFLSTOMP their efforts singlehandedly.
I think team Supes wins this one no matter what. I call a re-dux.
If Superman doesn’t do it, I’m pretty sure Vader could use the Force

To be honest, there isn’t much point putting Superman in these match-ups. Hes to good, which makes him suck! Mario and Link would be gonners in seconds. But other than that, it’d be a good battle!

Couldn’t that somehow damage the city or potentially the flag? And how about the helpless bots? ( Civilians )
Superman could obviously take this one, but say for some reason it was a slow version of him, it would be much more interesting.
Link would most likely be on the defensive, as he is outclassed in weapons, but his various items could keep people at bay for a while.
Master Chief could work either way, his more beefy weapons could power his way through to the flag, but seeing as destruction is against the rules, his sniping would be his most handy skill. He could also set up a few shields and defences around the flag.
Vader also works both ways. I can see him as a mid-way kind of thing. He could definitely keep people away with the force
It would be great to see Samus screw attack her way through the streets. Her supersonic speed boost would also be a great ability here, as she would have a good run-up. Getting on top of buildings is also an option for her if too much gets in the way, Bombs would also be a good defense.
Mario is pretty much useless unless he has some mushrooms and items on hand.

There is no real way around his advantage in this fight. Clark has performed many “delicate” feats at high speeds. There is no way he could cause damage to the flags or anything in their vicinity unless he chose to do so.
The only ones able to come close to this advantage are Kratos with his limited control over time, and Kharn with his enhanced reflexes and senses, but neither of them have the advantage of flight. That means that their efforts would HAVE to be used just to halt Supes’ advance, leaving the team severely disadvantaged.
In all honesty, this could become a type of Battleground and its related tactics to those whoare familiar with WoW; the dreaded Warsong Gulch. Team Kharn would be forced to turtle the flag, while team Supes would be on a constant barraging assault.
Supes runs point =/= Kharn & Kratos must join to counter

Vader single-handedly defends the flag =/= Samus is constantly Force raped
Link is free and clear to provide any needed support
That is how I think it would go. Maybe not the instant victory for Supes (which I still believe could be a very real possibility), but a victory for his team nontheless.
This scenario would be MUCH worse if the teams are split the way Thepocalypse interpretted the match to be.

There used to be a BankGambling-esque section of Nintendoland.com called Deathmatch. They used lightning bolts to split up teams, maybe we should have that here to eliminate confusion.

A) I know several friends who have been victims of sexual assault, and your wording is very offensive.
B) I stated in the Vader vs. Samus thread that it’s very unlikely that Vader’s Force Powers would penetrate Samus’ shield. I actually believe Samus would wipe the floor with Vader. (Don’t get me wrong, Vader is one of my all time favorite Villans, but I don’t think he has what it takes to take Samus down.)
Well, it’s already been said by about everyone else, but I feel like adding my support for the sake of it. So, which ever team gets Superman wins this fight.

I think the CTF idea is great one, the only suggestion that I can offer is that flag bases become a no fly no teleport zone. This would allow characters like Superman to make an unstoppable escape with the flag, but only if they can fight their way to the flag, then fight their way out.

It really p*sses me off when people use the word rape in that way as well. It’s discusting and offensive and is a word that should never be used to describe anything other then what it is, which is something that has no place on a website like this.

I suspect that even with Starpower, Mario would still be vulnerable to having his momentum halted by an invisible Force wall.

I didn’t take really take offense to it, but it does bother me. I know what he meant, and to be perfectly fair, his use of the word wasn’t politically incorrect, no more then refering to a female dog as a bitch:

Definition 5 shows that it is technically proper use of the word. Anywho, like I said, the other half of what bothered me was I don’t think Vader would best Samus in a fight.

See Vader vs. Samus for my reasons why. We don’t need to clutter up two battles with the technicalities of this particular matchup)
As for the whole CTF thing, perhaps make the flag room a magical “NO POWER” zone. Say within 10 meter of the flag, all advantages or disadvantages of any party is completly negated. All weapons that impact the Neutral Zone are removed from existence until any and all parties pass out of the Zone. So supes would be a normal human, Kharn’s armor and weapon and ressurection would be negated, Vader would be unable to use force powers and he would be capable of surviving without his suit. In addition, no combat is permited whatsoever. All parties inside the Zone are completly invulnerable untill which time they exit the zone and are restored to full strength.
This Superman wouldn’t be able to zip in and out with the flag or Kratos could use Timestop to run in and retrive it. It becomes a game of ‘protect this zone’ because once they get in, you can’t touch them untill they come out. It doesn’t completley negate the advantages of someone like Superman, because he can just zip over and splatter whoever has the flag.
mata has a neat one for the next round. As for mario, he is just impossible to truly quantify… he is literally the embodiment of a character who can do anything deending on the scenario he is in. Arguably the most flexible character in gaming. I’m not trying to say Mario owns everyone!!!!! but he’s so……. undefined.

Superman is not a Human, even if this neutral zone stripped the combatants of their respective canonical advantages (An idea that I find ludicrous – But will not discuss just yet) and powers, he would still be a Kryptonian, a member of an advanced race of Humanoids forged from eons of evolution.

Awesome style match I have Money on Team 1. Reason? But the Spartan, Sith Lord and Hero of time gaurding the flag(it will be hard for Kratos to get though that) and let Superman go and get the flag.

I’m not a complete expert on the subject, but from my Knowledge Gorechild is not magical, but instead inhabited by a daemon. In other words, a power axe that has blades stronger then adamantium that is possessed by a daemon which thirsts for blood, wielded by one of the greatest butcher men and omnicidal (and I do mean OMNIcidal) maniacs in the galaxy.

That seems to be right on the money with the additional tid-bit of the Daemon within the weapon also demonstrating soul-drinking abilities. Indeed not magical, just far, FAR worse…

Even if kratos slowed down time before superman came,he is still to fast for kratos to react.
Superman has proven himself to go at the speed of light….Speed of light is approximately 300,000 km each second, or being able to go around the earth 7 times in about 1 second. Kharne, even with his powerful Gorechild, just wouldn’t be able to react fast enough to someone that fast. And if kratos uses his ability to slow down time, and slows down time to about 1/7x, Supes would be moving at about 42850 miles per hour..way to fast for even this Spartan to handel. Team 2 has really powerful guys, but they would just be too slow to react to the Man of Steel.

Still believe Supes FTL will win the day. Light speed is 180,000mps, meaning you could go around the earth 7 times. Supes would be going from one side on NYC to the other. Not the much of a distant. Now, going FTL, it is really easy for Supes to steal the flag before anyone even starts to move their limbs, let alone attempt to stop the Last Son of Kryptone. I give the match to Team 1

Team 2 because kratos as Tinan and God (to kill Athena) kills vader like ares kill the barbarians in the game, then as a god of war kill master chief with his own weapons, then kratos as giant crushes link and Superman is distracted with the army of hades and kratos catching superman with one hand (still big) and takes superman’s head with the other hand

Kharn will go on a killing spree, hacking all the civilians to bits. superman, being goody two shoes, will be morrally overpowered by the needless slaughter of the human race, will swoop down to stop Kharn. superman, having heatvision and super streangth will win the fight without it started yet, but Kharn has resurrect ability, which might eventuelly help his demon possed axe to get hold of supy. they will battle it out leaving the rest to fend for them selves.
master chief and kratos will probably meet each other somewhere in the middle of the battlefield. this will also be a battle of note sinve mc has regen shields end extremely better range than kratos. although god of war can stop time and has that nifty rage of the gods. medusas stare wont work since mc never takes off his helm. this fight can tilt either way.
that leaves vader and link vs samus and mario.
samus will most likely invade team 1 defence and come up against vader( since she overpowers link) and have another vight of note. both samus and vader has some considerible abilities, niether can sustain it forever. samus’s shield will block the force and the force will block energy attacks. this will probly tur out to be al melee fight or have them shooting and throwing stuff at each other. this fight will end with luck. either samus will be a half sec too late with her shield or vader will be lax with the force. lucky shot will end the match.
all thats left is link and mario, battling it out with whatever trinkets they have. link will block all marios fireballs, and simply shoot him at range when he has a star. this will come down to who will last the longest in a allout brawl. link will most likely win since he can be touched more than once. so link will capture the flag and win the fight.

While your comment certainly has logic to it, and is not fanboyish, I dare say you severely underestimate Superman’s speed. By the time Kharne body reacts to the civilians and by the time he physically makes the decision to attack them, Superman could have flown him to the moon and left him there. It just won’t work, the Khornate warrior is beyond words pathetic compared to superman, all he has going for him is a fancy axe, which Superman might just rip right out from him.
true enough. but remember, superman had a hard time beating doomsday, he might have just as difficult a time. it all depends, does he engage Kharn first, or react to civilians in distress. if he acts first, then he might get the axe away and such. if he reacts to the citizens in destress, the kharn would already be boosted with the aleady killed civilians. which might make it more difficult. dont get me wrong, superman will win, but it will take some time as he will try to do this without hurting civ’s. kharn will use this to his advantage

i vote for team one sicne sup is going to outrun everyone while the Chief will cover Lord Vader .A for those who say that Darth Vader can not kill Samus with the Force they are dead wrong (sorry) since the force is in everything(according to Yoda) so the Sith Lord will only need to feel Samus’s throat through the force and crush it and remeber he is the one who has the most mindiclorians than any other being (even if his power is cripled due to the fact that obi wan chopped him realy badly . (the only thing that team one wants it’s the Witch King who will just use his ability of making any enemy to run away out of fear . But as before MC ,Sup ,Vader ,Link make an anbitable team .Thanks

I’m pretty sure the US military and EU forces would disrupt the battle.
Superman could tie up Kratos and Kharn for a while, beating them both is a bit of a stretch eve for the big blue boyscout but he can definitely delay them with his invincibility and super sonic speed with hit and run tactics.
Mario is a bit of a non factor at this level and Vader and MC can tag team Samus.
After that, Superman can pin Kharn down long enough for vader to decap/lobotomize him with a light saber and MC and Link should be enough to take on Kratos with ranged tactics.

Superman and Vader take the flag with precog and super speed while Link camps the flag and MC booby-traps it with grenades and anti-tank mines.
Oh, and Kratos’s time stop fails for two reasons. The first is the subjective activation limit. He can’t exactly have it on 24/7 for a reason.
The second is doors. He can’t open doors while time is stopped without the relative velocity utterly destroying them and violating the “do not destroy the target location” clause.
Also, Kharn really can’t do much due to his weight.
He’s eight feet tall and weights as much as a car, he’s not taking the elevator (except the cargo elevator..maybe and the stairways are both a very slow way to travel and not made for someone his size.

They should have replaced Kharn with Doctor Who. I still think NATO forces will pummel both teams into submission.
