So this idea of MC taking on an army had popped up a few times, but how would an elite group of soldiers handle taking on a one-man army?
I think “THIS IS SPARTA” might actually win. Even with all of the technology, 300 against 1 just seems too great. Sure MC could laser or kill a bunch of spartans in a group, but they know that if they keep advancing, he has to re-load at some point in time…

Uhh..Guys, read the halo books. Chief is genetically enhanced. He is like that guy from DOOM, who becomes super human…only chief is stronger. HE took on 4 ODST’s in a gravity simulating training room. without armour, he killed one, and permenatley disabled another, thre rest had broken ribs, skulls, internal bleeding..SO YEAH chief beats every one on you list of chief vs. _____

masterchief may have taken out the covenant, but he always takes out small groups at a time, and then recharges his shields, and picks up more ammo/weapons before moving on to the next group, and the Original Spartans wont give masterchief the chance to do this, they’ll relentlessly attack again and again, until they wear masterchief down.
And to those saying that the more advanced technology will always win, look at the Angol-Zulu war, for the most part, the guys with spears beat the crap out of the guys with guns.
Arrows from medieval bows can break bullet proof glass that bullets can’t. Swords and knives can stab through bullet proof vests that bullets can’t.
Masterchief’s armour is designed to protect against advanced energy and projectile weapons, not simple weapons (even in the Halo games, the energy shields and armour don’t stand up to a sword, hammer, or punch, as well as they stand up to bullets and energy weapons).
Maybe masterchief could win against 10 or 20 spartan, but against 300? I don’t think so.

As the title says MC is against the Spartans, I shall assume it is the whole army, not just the 300. MC would most likely decimate the 300 unless they found a way to coordinate a huge close range spear attack to overwhelm his shields and slide a sword or two between the armor plates, but that would probably be unlikely.
As Spartans entails the entire army, which is in the thousands, MC only has so much ammo. As a civilization of war, they would have plenty of tactics to choose from. They could surround and rush a scorpion to quickly overwhelm it. As it can only shoot in 1 direction at a time and has a slow reload time (other than the machine gun, which also shoots in one direction at a time) the rather large army would make its way to the scorpion, but at a high cost. They would then jab at it and rip apart whatever they could find and would most likely hit something vital. This would force MC out of his vehicle to inflict even more damage to the Spartans. This brings me back to the beginning of this long post (sorry) where they could overwhelm his shields and shove a spear or sword into his armor.
As with the other weapons, they seem to have limited ammunition. 10,000 spears vs a few hundred well placed bullets/a few lasers typically means a victory through overwhelming firepower.
MC could slaughter an army if he had plenty of space to maneuver and a wraith or a chopper. He could just run over them for an hour or so. Vehicle less and putting into a real world where a respawn doesn’t exist leaves him with the ammo issue. If he acquires enough spartan lasers, he can decimate the army. A sniper rifle, although very effective, is not practical as it has 4 shots to a magazine and would take to long to put a large dent into the army unless he moves around constantly for days.
Remember that the Spartans were considered super soldiers of their day, but they were overtaken due to the enormous under trained Persian army.
Overall, I believe the Spartan army would win through numbers, but a 1 vs 1 would equal an easy win for MC. It would become more difficult as the numbers increase though due to the manpower and lack of ammunition. MC would take a huge chunk of the Spartan army with him though.
And their shields contained more than just wood by the way. They contained wood, but also had layers of metal. Not enough to stop a bullet obviously, but good for the time.
To plokminra, yes he is a “spartan”, but it is just a name. I don’t think he came from Sparta or is of Spartan decent. Don’t quote me on that though.
Oh yeah, I forgot about air power. If he had it, he still has limited ammo. He could use it up and then swap to a tank though. MC would most likely win with vehicle support.
I wanna know how MC gets all these weapons: scorpions, scarabs, scarab gun, dual plasma rifles after the rocket launcher and fuel rod gun. I don’t get it does he pull all of this out of his arse when he needs it? or do the support pelicans someone mentioned drop them in pods after ,and I Quote,”The pelicans fire tons of missiles and kill all 300 spartans”. It’s sad to think that MC could do so much to the spartans, but in a worst-case scenario, he’s only got 1 or 2 guns at a time… he can’t get everyone. One of em makes it through, stabs him and it’s over.

Simple… Full pack of each grenade could kill like 200 spartans leaving 100. Rocket launcher shots accurately fired could kill 50 and fuel rod cannon fired up onto a cliff even if they tried climbing up onto a cliff, MC would totally own the rest. dont forget MC has very fast reflexes so he can easily be told by cortana. MC’s armor is 3 tons,it takes more than a steel tipped spear to pierce through titamiun A plating.and armor piercing rounds are designed to pierce through titanium armor those steel shields would be paper to that…MC can easily destroy the entire sparta if he had a scorpion tank if he was to take on the 300 without a vehicle he can fire 4 rockets and take out 75% of them and take out the rest using his MA5B assault rifle.its a 1 hit kill and MC have self regenerating shields 300’s spears would just break when hit on the energy shield or the titanium armor. and since MC is surgically inhanced everything moves in slow motion to him that would just be too easy and he has cortana for battling skills and a motion tracker those 2 advantages should already declare him the winner, if the 300 was to use phalalix formation(the one they used on xerxes’s army) MC can just shoot at their shield with the armor piercing rounds those can easily penetrate the shield thus killing the spartan behind it. the result:MC wins without getting a scratch

The Chief was abducted when he was 5 and given a military upbringing by the UNSC. Chief was chosen for this because of how great his genetics were he was taller stronger faster and smarter than the kids in his pre-abduction school. Even more than that he and his FELLOW SPARTANS(yes he was part of a group of over 100 kids augmented/trained) were taught about the ancient spartan warriors, so The Chief already knows what to expect of the 300. The Chief would only need 2 Plasma Rifles and some grenades to ripe through all 300. A Plasma bolt would disintegrate any armor the 300 had while arrows and spears would bounce off the shields of the Master Chiefs armor.
The Chief could even win the battle against the 300 without weapons because of his genetic enhancements and MJOLNIR armor.

MJOLNIR Armor
Main Article: MJOLNIR armor
The SPARTAN-II program was conceived in parallel with the development of the MJOLNIR armor (Pronounced: My-ol’-nir). The Spartans received the first practical forms of the armour, the Mark IV, in 2525, followed by the Mark V and Mark VI in 2552.
The demands of the armour were such that only the Spartans could wear them. A number of unaugmented humans were killed attempting to use the suit during test trials because of the power the suit translated from normal movements. Project MJOLNIR’s main rival in the race to create an armour for the SPARTAN-II Program was Project HAYABUSA, the Japanese equivalent to Dr. Catherine Halsey and Project MJOLNIR. Each Spartan’s armour must be 2 inches taller than the man inside the suit, for example: John-117 is 6’10” but inside the armour he stands 7ft tall. This means that the taller the armour, the taller the Spartan.

MC carries two guns, three if dualing or carrying turret or missile pod. ammo would be a problem, but hey what do I know I didn’t read the books because I get enough mc in the games.

Original spartans win because they have a team that John doesn’t have anymore. Unfortunatly MC loses and is dead. But……….that doesn’t mean that there isnt another spartan that is still alive(not includeing Halo Wars).
