FANBOY ALERT: Robotech is my absolute all-time favorite sci-fi series…

…so I’m very biased as to who would win, so I’ll let you, dear reader, determine the outcome.

Robotech! I’ve only seen a few of the Gundam series, and it always seem to be like beating my head against a barbed wire fence. same thing over and over and over and….

i have absolutely no idea what robotech is but if its as cool as you say ill have to check it out as it is i like gumdam its one of my favorite cartoons so the fanboy in me wants to say gundam

I for one know little of both, and would welcome any detailed analysis for either side by one who does about the topic.

Well, the devil gundam would be a big contender in any mech fight, especially with the four heavenly kings and the death army by it’s side. To give you an idea of what it this one unit islook at this:

So, the top picture was the main unit, the bottom was the Devil Gundam after it took over the space colony of Neo japan. It was able to achieve this after acquiring a woman pilot. You see the devil gundam needed a person capable of giving life(a woman) to pilot it, it was designed this way because it was built to give life using the d g cells, nano tech capable of repairing itself, Resurrection of humans, building mobile suits, and self evolving. When a woman pilots it it unlocks the full potential of the unit.

The death army, units produced using captured humans living and resurrected and D G for mobile suit production, heres a pic.

Keep in mind, as long as the devil gundam has human bodies to spare, it can keep creating and replacing this immense army.

So there we have two forces to be reckoned with.

I’ll just copy and paste myself for now.
Wing zero, the most powerful of the mobile suits seen on Gundam Wing, the weapon that inspired terror in Oz and space colony foces, the beam cannon, was the very definition of devastation, entire battalions of mobile suits and mobile dolls, entire space colonies were destroyed by a single shot from this weapon, star trek ships Will Not hold up. The zero system, designed to continuasly analyze battle data and statistics and feed them back to the pilot, the psychological effects were the removal of fear and emotional prohibitions felt by the pilot, the battle becomes a strategy game, the pilot will not hesitate to use whatever weapons his suit is equipped with, in Wing Zero’s case the infamous rifle I spoke of. Gundanium alloy, all the gundam’s armor plating is made up of this material, near immutable, neutral electric charge, and an incredibly high melting point. It is extremely effective, most who did not know what gundanium was thought the gundams were invincible. A mobile suit pair known as the Vayeate and Mercurious were built by oz using gundanium, Vayeate took a hit from Wing Zero’s beam cannon and was about sixty percent intact. This was the same weapon that literally vaporizes standard mobile suits and blew a space colony to pieces of debris, Gundanium can take a beating.

Standard mobile suits and mobile dolls, Oz and space colony rebels have them to spare. While the Leo and Ares were primarily made for combat on earth, The leo would later be converted to space combat worthiness. But, however, Oz came up with two mobile suits, Taureus and Virgo, and gave them the mobile doll system. These were automated units capable of carrying out destruction of targets with more accuracy than most human pilots. The virgo was a larger, slower unit but carried a large beam cannon to compensate, though not as powerful as Wing Zero’s, virgos were dispatched in overwhelming numbers to terminate a target. Taurus mobile dolls were a lighter unit but didn’t quite have virgo level firepower, they could change form into a highly agile fighter form to quickly relocate when needed. At space fortress libra a modified doll control system was made combining it with a zero system, it was given an idividual named dorothy, one of the more influential members of the white fang. The system comprised of the system, a helmet worn by the user displaying the battle and allowed the user to control mobile doll forces by will alone. The last version of the Virgo were equip with electromagnetic shield generators created by three discs orbiting the unit, dorothy would have three virgos huddle and combine their shields and create a shielded firing platform capable of firing in any direction.

Space fortress Libra, Oz’s last hope for space supremacy, taken over by rebels lead by former Oz ace pilot Zechs Marquis. At the center of the sinister installation is a beam weapon that easily dwarfed the feared beam cannon of wing Zero, once fired upon earth, it caused destruction that looked like god’s wrath in magnitude, Judging by what I saw, most countries would be wiped clean.

@ Diana: G gundam and Gundam wing are the two I know most about because Toonami lost it’s balls before getting any of the others besides them and mobile suit gundam and 0079. I never got the chance to see the ones you are talking about so I’ll leave them up to you.

However, what is special about G Gundam’s timeline is the presence of advanced mobile suits called mobile fighters. Using the mobile trace system, these mobile fighters mimic the movements of their pilots, making them very effective for close-ranged martial arts combat.

to tell you the truth in a fight between robotech and gundam, i would say robotech would win up until Seed, Seed, Destiny, and 00 gundam series’. i mean first of all, the varatechs are mass produced products and have interchangable armor that would be able to change it’s atributes to either the space/highspeed/high armored capacity combat. second of all, the numbers of the veratechs would overwhelm most if not all of the gundaqm piolets. Amuro Ray even with his new type abilities would have a hard time trying to decide the best course of action while being faces with alpha’s, beta’s and other old and newtype veratechs of differing speeds, capabilities, and weaponry. gundams like the wing zero withs it’s zero system would have a pretty easy time, and cordinators such as kira, and athrun would have an easy time finding an easy course of action to take for victory but the abilities of the poilets would be impared like amuro because of the shear numbers. 00 gundams would have an easy time because of their transam and their never ending power GN drives, but gundams such as G-gundam gundams and even the GP03 would have a tough time due to their not low high speed capabilities in combat and not being very versatile in both space and land combat. some of the gundams would have the advantage in the water such as shen long gundam and sandrock. but that wouldent be a problem if we are talking about having the SDF1 thro SDF3 MKII models in play because of the hydron cannons on the front.

gundam can just use one of the several giant laser canons of death they have (genesis,requiem, gryps, and several others) the only threat the invid present is the regis and everything in robotech is powered by flower power and all robotech has is sheer numbers not skill like gundam sry i like robotech but gundam has more weapons meant to destroy vast numbers of enemys (Buster rifle, positron canons, plasma canons ect…)g gundam would just overall kill with burning fingers and shining fingers and that crazy dark gundam thing that regerats and creates shit amounts of troops. and large ships like sdf1-3 and the shell things the invid have are just begging to be cut in half by the 00 gundams mile long beam saber and the remaining troops to become canon fodder for gundams like strike freedom and nu gundam with there dragoons and funnels respectivly

I am well versed in both Gundam and Robotech / Macross
Gundam are made of a near invincible element found in the far reaches of space. Veratechs are made with materials found on earth. So a Gundam could take out a Veratech. Gundams are powered by engines, and Veratechs are powered by a contained Reactive explosion egual to big bang. This energy source was made by the Robotech Masters who discovered it on the Invids Homeworld . They created the Zintradi to fight the Invid, and did so with much success, but the Zintradi abandoned the Robotech Masters who lost their war against the Invid. The Zintradi were looking for this energy (proto-culture) Wich had crashed landed on Earth during a World War, back to Gundam vs Robotech!!
The Gundams can fight the Veratech’s on a equal footing, their would be no wash out on either side, but the Gundam universe has ABSOLUTELY NO SHIP THAT Compares in Size or POWER to the SDF-1, and the Veratechs are not gonna fight far from it. The SDF-1 would pulverize the home fleets of the Gundam fighters and then turn to support the Veratechs. Not to mention that Veratechs can turn into Jets and reach speeds that Gundams can not.
So a Single Gundam vs a single Veratech would be and even match.

I forgot to mention, The pilots in the Gundam universe can see into the future, but not all of them. So you would have a couple of Gundams that would be pwnting the Veratechs early on in the fight, but they can’t keep it up forever. Gundams also have some serious repair time, while the Veratechs can land on the SDF-1 and go back into battle withing 15 minutes.
I think if you want to be serious about this you need to say Robotech vs Gundam.
Meaning The Macross Saga vs the Original Gundam Series.
That is what I have based all my Stats on.

Macross Plus vs Gundam Wing is a whole different subject.

Gundam would win for two reasons…Dark Gundam and Turn A Gundam…ones immortal and can assimilate both machines and humans and can repair and evolve the other can destroy ALL TECHNOLOGY just by flying by it and can also self repair….they beat any mechverse

two words Mega damage…Gundams although strong do not have mega damage armour or weapons…..and a veritech fighter is much more agile and carries mega damage weapons… too all you non roleplaying people…..1 mega damage is equal to 1000 hit points of regular damage. and a standard veritech has 150MD on its main body. There is no mention of MD on a Gundam or that it carries MD weapons.

u talkin robotech jargon, most gundam weapons are measured in real units, and if this is afight between universe then id be oz, ESA, EF, zeon, plus others from later years. Amuro Rays nu gundam is capable of pushing asteriods out of earths atmosphere, so mobile suits that arent even gundams but extremly powerful are the mercuries and the vei-8 to oz made suits built to fight gundams one had a chain made of mines, the other had multi functional bit weapons, the gundam meisters from 00 are quiet formidible the trans-am system makes them lethal, turn a and turn x have a nano machine clouds that destroys all technology. SDF-1 is powerful, but how many of wing zero’s buster shot can it handle? Zero’s taken out larger shielded targets with one shot. not to mention deathsycthe has camo and teleportation abilities, and the large number of gundams that can transform into fighters evens up the manuverability area, one of which is wing zero bird mode and he can still fire the buster cannon
