What If…Anakin had been seduced by the ring and became Sauron instead of Vader?

What If Anakin was seduced by the Ring and became Sauron instead of Vader?

Who would fulfill the prophecy?
Would Anakin have had more success?
Would the Ring have ever been lost?
What other ramifications would there be?

I see no point in this thread…..Lol.

    YAY! You used my idea!
Anyway, to the point, I figure that if Anakin became Sauron, he would never have need for the Emperor, and these two clashing personalities would inevitably meet in battle, I’d assume Palpatine would cut the ring from Anakin’s finger and Obi-Wan or Yoda would find it, balancing their power with that of the sith, thus fulfilling the prophecy. And they’d probably have to destroy it on Mustafar.

I kind of have to agree with Space Marine. Some are good, and some are just stupid.

The lord of the rings series would have still taken too long.

“Obi-Wan or Yoda would find it, balancing their power with that of the sith, thus fulfilling the prophecy”

The ring corrupts everything it touches, this wouldn’t work because you would have two rival factions where they would both be evil. None can resist the power of the ring, not even Gandalf and Gladriel:

“‘No!’ cried Gandalf, springing to his feet. ‘With that power I should have power too great and terrible. And over me the Ring would gain a power still greater and more deadly.’ His eyes flashed and his face was lit as by a fire within. ‘Do not tempt me! For I do not wish to become like the Dark Lord himself. Yet the way of the Ring to my heart is by pity, pity for weakness and the desire of strength to do good. Do not tempt me! I dare not take it, not even to keep it safe, unused. The wish to wield it would be too great, for my strength. I shall have such need of it. Great perils lie before me.'”-Gandalf’s answer when offered the Ring by Frodo.

Secondly, if Anakin was controled by the Ring, he would not become Sauron but a slave to the Ring, then the cutting the Ring off his hand would not work because he would be different to Sauron. Yes, he would be a Dark Lord but not Sauron.

Thirdly, I doubt he could be defeated because not only would he have mastery over the Force with the potential to become as powerful as Starkiller but he would also be capable of wielding magic so Palpatine would be crushed as would any who faced him. Force can fight Force but not Force and Magic in tandem.

“jimmierox have u memorized the book?”-In a word, yes! Nah, I have a pdf of the Fellowship but I know where all the useful quotes are.

“btw would anakins robo hand change the rings effect?”-I was assuming this took place before that event but no, he could just wear it on the other hand if he had to.

“So the scenario perhaps if Anakin acquired the ring he will only have an unnatural immortality and he will be chased by the Nazguls…..”

Sorry, pompus know it all here but no, IF Anakin were to use the ring, even to try and do good with it then he would gradually become enthralled by it, eventually becoming it’s slave and thus an extension of the will of Sauron himself, though not under the control of Sauron. In essence he would become a Wraith himself, a Dark Lord if you like.

“FYI guys…..The One Ring only answers to Sauron himself, It has no other master…..”

It can be used by anyone, but at the same time it uses them and corrupts their spirit. See the reactions from both Galadriel and Gandalf when offered the Ring by Frodo.

No Jimmierox, I think the point is that Sauron doesn’t exist in that world yet and Anakin becomes him when he takes the ring. All the abilities and everything.

  12. Scenario February 6, 2009 at 10:45 pm -      #12

Sauron made the ring, of course he exists. If Anakin gets the ring, he becomes corrupted and possibly overthrows Sauron, becoming the next dark lord and finally gains control of the ring. He remain corrupted, though.

A more interesting question would be if someone who wasn’t going evil anyway got the ring. Someone pure hearted like Goku or Link. Or maybe even…Kirby.

Bilbo and Smeagol could only access the surface powers of the Ring, ie the prolonged life and the invisibility. In the hands of someone who could wield the Ring it has the potential for near unlimited power. Both Lothlorien and Rivendell are sustained by two of the Elven Rings as both Galadriel and Elrond are able to use the power in their rings, just as Gandalf can use the power in his.

“No Jimmierox, I think the point is that Sauron doesn’t exist in that world yet and Anakin becomes him when he takes the ring. All the abilities and everything.”

Sauron made the Ring, how can something exist while its maker has not yet come into existence? Last I heard that either requires time travel, which neither universe possesses, or it creates a paradox which would have severe consequences. Now would you like to rethink your bumbling and inept statement? Or perhaps go and read the books, that would be the Hobbit, the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Simarillion.

I beleave it is a a what if. What If Anakin became Sauron

  16. JoshMcFace February 9, 2009 at 11:32 am -      #16

Someone with a will stronger than Sauron’s is needed to overthrow Sauron and access all the ring’s power, and I don’t think Anakin has such a will, as he was manipulated quite easily. He may be able to access some of the rings power, but not all of it and I don’t think he could use it to conquer the other rings.

  17. =[BF]=JimmieRox February 10, 2009 at 4:12 pm -      #17

You don’t get it do you? Not even Gandalf, who Tolkien described as “angel incarnate” and the wisest of the Maiar, could resist the Ring’s influence however Aragorn proved to have a stronger will than Sauron after defeating him in a mental battle when he looked into the palanthir. It’s not about will, your very essence, your soul if you will, gets corrupted, infected even, by the energies that Sauron poured into the Ring. The Ring itself is semi-sentient, it actually wants to get back to Sauron, is capable of manipulating its bearer to its own ends. For example when Golum drops it and Bilbo finds it, or when Frodo tips and falls in the Prancing Pony when they first meet Stryder. The Ring is actually a part of Sauron and so as such you cannot “overthrow Sauron,” merely supplant him for a while.

Whether you can access the powers contained within the One Ring or not is dependent on whether you can unlock them with your mind. This is why I do not doubt that Anakin could reach out with his mind using the Force and use the Ring.

  18. JoshMcFace February 10, 2009 at 5:13 pm -      #18

No I do not get it…I’m just guessing with my own opinion (wrong as it may be aha.) I thought it had always been said that one of Sauron’s main weaknesses was that if someone with a great will managed to possess the ring, they would be able to challenge Sauron, and even receive some of his powers of dominion (didn’t Saruon get scared that Aragorn, a heroic, strong man with a large will had the ring?) Sorry if “overthrow” seemed too strong a word. I personally just don’t think Anakin has the strength or mental strength, even with the force, to overcome the ring’s corruption. Though if he could, he would receive much more power from it than the likes of Frodo or Gollum.

  19. Thepocalypse February 10, 2009 at 5:44 pm -      #19

Well Jimmierox, let’s just say he did. It’s not at all interesting if you just say “That could never happen. Here’s why…” to everything.

darth sauron will rule da world

  21. =[BF]=JimmieRox February 12, 2009 at 6:00 pm -      #21

Aragorn never had the Ring, he refused it when he was offered it by Frodo just before the Uruk attack at Amon Hen. Even he knew that he couldn’t wield the Ring and still remain uncorrupted!

No, you can use the powers contained within the Ring but the Ring will never answer to you.

“In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged in secret a master Ring, to control all others. And into this Ring he poured his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life.” From the recent film adaptation directed by Peter Jackson.

The Ring contains part of Sauron’s soul, you cannot remove that from the Ring without physically destroying it, by casting it into the firey pit of Mount Doom.

However Anakin definitely would be able to access a lot of the power contained within the Ring. If he ever did face Sidious the he would cast him down and break his power and Sidious would never become the Emperor. As I said before, if Anakin were to find the Ring he would become exponentially more powerful. Especially if he was never forced to use the cybernetics because he was never injured.

  22. JoshMcFace February 13, 2009 at 5:52 pm -      #22

I know Aragorn never had the ring. Sauron was scared that he did.

Moving onwards, would Starkiller be found and trained by the last vestiges of the Jedi order instead of by Darth Vader? Would Starkiller, Luke and the Rebels be able to defeat the new Dark Lord of the Sith? Would Luke be more powerful than Starkiller? Would Luke even be concieved? Would Luke be raised by Anakin and trained along side Galen Marek? So many ideas!

  24. Zach February 20, 2009 at 10:51 pm -      #24

If that happened, everyone in the lord of the rings would be screwed. Think of Souran ( sorry if I spelled ot wrong) with telekinesis, mind powers, and a lightsaber.

  25. Thepocalypse May 28, 2009 at 4:52 pm -      #25

“If that happened, the new possessor could (if sufficiently strong and heroic by nature) challenge Sauron, become master of all that he had learned or done since the making of the One Ring, and so overthrow him and usurp his place.”
A letter of Tolkien’s as Word of God proof that this could happen.

If aniakin became sauron i think he would over throw palpatine like he so very wanted and rule the galaxy with starkiller and saurman by his side. imagine trolls with guns power ful enough to hurt the death star but i have to admit after he got rid of the alliance
there really would be peace. every planet would be like courasant and no one would want to kill him because he was so power ful. and he would never look like vader but like i buffer looking version of golem and starkiller almost and he would still kill padme and the jedi. there would be advanced stakiller clones and they would be working on a plan to attack the next galaxy. his son would join him as well and so would leia. the yuzhan vong would have lasted for a month or 2 before he summoned a death squad of luke leia and galen watched over by saurman to kill the fleet of vong. and middle earth creatures such as dwarfs and hobbits would have to make a living in the star wars galaxy as middle earth would be controlled by hutts and back water sith. the nazgul would be cloned into imperial guards and ground support for the death squad trio of galen, luke, and leia. yoda would be exicuted in public and the x-wing would be the new tie fighter.
