Muhammad Ali Vs Mike Tyson

Muhammad Ali Vs Mike Tyson

Even in his prime, Tyson would never be able to beat Ali. In his prime, Tyson was a bully that raged into the match and overwhelmed opponents where as Ali would take all your punches and then deliver a knockout blow.

So, is there any chance for the earman?

I think that Tyson would be picked appart. Like admin said, he was(is) pretty much just a bully with tons of power, but little technique.

Ali would obliterate this long argued dream-match with hit bumblebee stings.

Ali wins. And I’m sure Ali would win in under 3 rounds. Tyson could dish it out, but he’s lackin’ in the ability to take it, as I’m sure Holyfield will agree. Yep, Ali wins.

Ali is a complete legend, who could out last Tyson for as long as it took to get a few winning blows in. And he has ears of steel so yeah.

Are you kidding me? Tyson??? Ali could box circles around Tyson and not break a single sweat.

Ali is the better boxer, Tyson is little more than a back street brawler whereas Muhammad Ali came up with “if you ever dream of beating me… you better wake up and apologize.”

Tyson had a unique fighting style: None. his whole purpose in life would be to rush right at you and punch away. Ali was a boxing artist. Even Bruce Lee watched his fights, and was trained in the sport of boxing by Ali. So Muhammed Ali all the way!

Does anyone here actually fight, train, or is in a competitive sport (1 vs 1)? For those who put down tyson, you should realize that he is EXTREMELY skilled. He may seem like a brawler, but that brawler’s strength you see is from his amazing footwork, balance and core strength. Now, one can argue that Ali had footwork also, but his footwork was more associated with his agility and ability to dodge. Tyson’s footwork was more associated with his offense and contributed to his power. I have tyson’s fight videos, all of it. Watch his training and footwork and his abs and lowerback control. He is very deadly and very skilled.
OH, btw, i train in MMA. My bro is a fighter and we religiously talk fighting…and fight. and was a wrestler for a while… :)

My two of my favorites — i’d be betting on Tyson if they both went in at the peak of their careers though.

Meh Ali would win by decision. Ali would work him with the jab all fight long straight headshots. His reach is just too long. And he’s too fast as well so unless Tyson forces him into the corner he’ll never get on the inside.

Glad people know their shit on this site, I’ve come across way too many people that bought into Tyson’s hype. He’s been beaten too many times to be regarded as one of the greats, and in Sky One’s boxing greats programme the panel of ex-boxers didnt even include him. Look at his records: boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=000474&cat=boxert

He got beat by Holyfield (twice) and Lewis and when he was in his prime Buster Douglas knocked him out. We’ll be kind and omit his ill-thought out comeback because he was picked apart by average fighters then

Good punch but if he cant beat Holyfield and Lewis he aint got a hope of beating Ali. Hell, smokin Joe would have put him on his ass for fun!

This one is difficult. Ali has the reach advantage. But then again Tyson is a both a Brawler and a Swarmer the bane of those with long arms. If Ali can stay on the outside and work him with the jab then he can take it eventually. However if Tyson gets on the outside its probably over.

I think this actually is pretty easy. Ali dances around him all match.

I would have said that if this was any other heavyweight but this is Tyson. People don’t give Tyson the credit he deserves when it comes to boxing. The man was very skilled and extremely fast despite his size. Tyson is a dangerous opponent since we know what happens when Ali goes up against swarmers. Tyson’s MO when it comes to dealing with outside fighters like Ali is to rush in chin locked into his collar bone to prevent knockouts from an uppercut, move inside the opponents range, and and put those hooks and overhead punches to work. Ali might win this one he might lose but he’s not leaving that ring unscathed.

^I’ll trust your word on it. I haven’t seen Tyson fight all that much, so I can’t give the most accurate opinion.

Well here’s a highlight reel for him. Trust me the man was an animal in the ring. He could have really been great. However when his mentor died that was the end since he had no one to help direct him.

Alright, for all the Tyson fans, all I’ll do is direct you to the Holyfield fights and the Lewis fight. ReDrum, you’re obviously a boxing fan. But do you really think Holyfield or Lewis were better than Muhammad Ali? And those guys walked around Tyson and left him on his ass. Ali beat Joe Frasier, one of THE best inside fighters, and Foreman couldn’t dominate him, he out-thought big George. I’m all for a debate, but just saying Tyson was skilled isn’t really enough, some of the most skilled boxers in history fought Ali.

  25. ReDruM May 29, 2012 at 11:32 pm -      #25

I can get behind that. What I’m saying is that Tyson is a dangerous opponent and to not play him cheap. This is by no means a stomp since Tyson specializes in opponents like Ali. However Ali is taller, faster hands, and longer reach and knows how to beat the swarm tactic. But Tyson hits hard though and if he connects with that overhand right it can be all she wrote. However in my humble opinion Ali The Great takes it. Likely by decision.
