Here is an interesting match that would probably last for about 30 seconds. IMO, the Gunship just has a better arsenal and could withstand more of a beating than the Phantom…
How do you think this ends?
I also think that the gunships wins with his rockets
the phantom has only turrets thats why pelicans can destroy the phantoms
Well as we have already gone over SW weaponry is far more lethal than any Halo weaponry, this combined with the fact that the gunship provides enough weaponry to make it a threat to heavy armor (of the SW universe) while also covering every conceivable firing arc make it far more formidable than the Phantom.
The Phantom’s main problem is not the vastly weaker guns but the trajectories they are limited to, the Phantom can only hit things in a sphere starting parallel to the hull and going down, thus it is extremely vulnerable to top attacks. With the Republic Gunship being far more maneuverable this is a far more exploitable weakness, but the gunship could just scrap the thing in one or two bursts or a shot from the mass drivers with even more haste.
Another reason why halo Has got nothing on SW.
Can’t touch this!
Dananana nana nana-Cant touch this!
The Republic Gunship is easily faster and has more firepower along with more weapons. The Gunship would easily win.
Another purple hull gets blown to bits.
yea the republic gunship was made for support, dropship, space combat, extraction, and infeltration with small partys.
while the dropship was made for just that a dropship
why do we keep doing this!!!!!!
Covenant Phantom will hold to together better SW vehicles generally fall apart and explode.
“Covenant Phantom will hold to together better SW vehicles generally fall apart and explode.”
When struck by the superior weaponry of the Republic Gunship, the Phantom will be the one doing the exploding. Especially since the Republic Gunship can absorb Plasma fire like a sponge.
the republic gunship would win but if you get atleast one shot on the dropship it would blow apart. the phantom can take alot of damage and will be able to get a shot on the gunship witch would do huge amounts of damage and if the wing is hit WITCH IS WHERE THE REPULSERLIFT GENERATERS ARE it will fall out of the sky however the gunship carry more weopons and you would need an awsome pilot in the covi phantom to pull of such a move where you only need one shot to kill and its also in starwars eposode two it was hit by flack and detonated the missle loads
also gunship isnt manovarable at high speed thats why the gunships have the large door witch aslo act as an air break
but i still think the republic gunship would win
It would be alot better if it was “republic gunship vs pelican” since the pelican has missles and turrets while the covenenant phantom only has turrets its lack of fire power will cause it to lose vs the republic dropship with lazers rockets etc
Oh, this is easy!
A phantom comes up and starts shooting the gunship. The gunship is rendered unprotected. The gunship then shoots several missiles & lasers. The phantom is destroyed.
OK, I don’t know if plasma can melt the protection of the gunship, but still, gunship wins.
“OK, I don’t know if plasma can melt the protection of the gunship, but still, gunship wins.”
The LAAT is armored by durasteel, which can absorb all plasma based attacks.
So you chose correctly, though I advise you that even a tiny bit of research can go a looong way. Just saying…
don’t phantoms cloak if it can the gunship is skrewed because if i recall gunships can’t detect cloaked ships play the level the covanant at rally point alpha 2 phantoms cloak away after you reach the checkpoint
yep cloaking phantom’s win
yes phantom’s can cloak
P.S. phantoms cloak gunships don’t and can’t detect them
“yep cloaking phantom’s win
P.S. phantoms cloak gunships don’t and can’t detect them”
Since Republic Gunships use gravfield trap sensors to frequently detect and destroy cloaked targets (Such as Droid Command Tanks), a Phantom using any form of light altering camouflage would be a futile gesture at best.
since when did they ever do that I saw all the moveis and cartoon series and they never had a gunship detecting cloaking command tanks neither were there ever cloaking targets
if your’e right could you tell me where you saw this besides what are gunships made of iron, steel ? plasma is 10,000 degrees everything has a melting point and 10,000 degrees most likely will melt almost any metal. gunships are tough but not invincable phantoms if they can outmanuver it can destroy a gunship
“besides what are gunships made of iron, steel ?”
If you actually read the posts before blathering, you would know that gunships are reinforced with durasteel. A material that absorbs plasma like a sponge.
The Separatist Spelunker probe droids were the most common variants, until the CIS discovered that all Droids in general could be effectively cloaked despite the varying cost of doing so. Thus it was determined during the Clone Wars that Republic sensors would have to compensate for the tactical discrepancy of possessing cloaked ships (Vengeance-class frigate comes to mind) and armour.
Thus you have the various sensors on board the Low Altitude Assault Transport (Not just the Gravfield) designed to remove the advantage of possessing camouflaged vessels. Even if the Phantom activated her cloaking device, the pilots are still going to know her position, and her gunners are still going to knock her our of the sky with their superior weapons.
Which is still a point you have to address; how does the Phantom crew deal with the fact that the armament of the LAAT makes their few plasma turrets look like pop guns?
With any of the weapons (even the beam cannon) the gunship would win out. The terror of the infantry blown to bits in seconds. Period.
I wonder what contradictions expertimp has to offer
I read through this and saw the contraversy on the cloaking field, and i began to wonder why no series or games ever mention a form of cloaking field bringing its user out of phase besides stargate.
Now, L_W, the Spelunker droids didn’t really have a true cloaking device, just a pretty cool trick with a hologram emitter. Depending on where they think the attacker is viewing from they put up a holographic field that shows what’s behind them. It holds up until, y’know, someone decides to move. Then the trick falls apart unless there’s more than one projecting their own fields to cover the others. Even then it’s not fool proof but it let them get the first shot off usually. Didn’t work on Yoda at all though on Illum.
Imperial cloaking devices use a massive gravitic spatial distortion field to warp the fabric of space-time completely around a cloaked vessel. This makes the vessel effectively invisible since all electromagnetic radiation and matter will be re-directed around the ship. However, the comprehensive nature of this cloak brings with it a major deficiency: since all incoming matter and energy are directed around the vessel, the ship is completely blind. It is impossible to communicate with the vessel, and inside the vessel nothing can be detected on sensors but a black emptiness around the ship (ref. SWEGWT, SWE)
Cloaking devices were mentioned during TESB, and unbenownst to the bridge officers in TESB (who reacted incredulously to the Millenium Falcon’s disappearance and said “no ship that small has a cloaking device!”), these devices had been miniaturized by the time of ROTJ so that Emperor Palpatine’s personal shuttle carried a cloaking device. The existence of this cloaking device was top-secret however, and to the best knowledge of most Imperial officers, the only working model was lost when the second Death Star was destroyed (ref. SWEGWT).
Cloaking devices have been around for decades, therefore the sensors to unmask such devices were fairly commonplace in the average military arsenal. A shoddy warping of light is hardly going to keep the Phantom safe from the heavy end weapons of a Republic Gunship.
Honestly this would be like matching an AC-130 Spectre against a C-130 Hercules. Hey and could we please get some theoretical WWII battles up here if u just contact me at my e mail address i could help u if u dont know much about WWII, i mean it killed 5 million people, REAL PEOPLE.
Although in reality the numbers are vastly different for both respective vehicles:
According to “The Flood”, a single bolt from the cannon of a Covenant dropship is capable of vaporizing (or at least blasting) the lower half of a human torso, placing the energy released by a single bolt somewhere between 10-20 megajoules.
Yet the AOTC:ICS states that the LAAT is packing four separate weapons systems:
A) Three anti-personnel turrets rated at 5,000 megajoules per shot.
B) Two mass driver missile launchers with a maximum yield of 100 kilotons.
C) Four composite beam ball turrets rated at 300,000 megajoules each.
D) Eight air-to-air rockets with an explosive yield of 140 tons of TNT per missile.
The LAAT is packing some serious firepower in this fight.
“Hey and could we please get some theoretical WWII battles up here if u just contact me at my e mail address i could help u if u dont know much about WWII, i mean it killed 5 million people, REAL PEOPLE.”
Actually it is estimated to have killed over 70 million people, so we’ll probably just get our facts elsewhere in future.
If the Phantom drops off a Scarab? wow.
Pelicans don’t stand a chance. Forget gunships.
well the phantom can drop infantry and vehicles like the AA wraith or fuel rod grunts which by the way are tiny an can be hard to shoot in the air. let me set the scene the phantom drops an AA wraith and some fuel rod grunts in a fairly flat area and than a gun ship appears but the AA wraith quickly fires many fuel rod shells witch are not plasma or plasma related the gun ship quickly doges many of them and try’s to shoot the grunts but they doge the explosives and the guns are too narrow and precise and cant shoot such tiny targets one more shot in the cockpit and the gun ship is down
Oh lordy this an old one I can tell!
