Star Talk Radio - As always, keep looking up!
Imperials are out of luck unless they have a person that can beast talk or something. Bet they’ll regret killing all the jedi when Big G is wreaking their shit.
–
Though I guess it depends on which Godzilla. The Recent one might be more manageable.
Well, in order then:
–
How would the Empire react?
–
The Star Wars version of “GODZILLA!!!”
Panic in other words- I’m sure there’s some Star Wars world with dinosaurs and such- and I’m equally sure it’s not Coruscant.
Side note- Isn’t this pretty much heaven for Godzilla? An entire planet that is NOTHING but city for him to destroy?
–
Would they try to weaponize Godzilla?
–
If Godzilla movies are any indication, that simply never works. Short of picking Godzilla up and moving him elsewhere, “weaponizing” him almost always ends badly.
Hell, there’s a trope named after that premise
tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GodzillaThreshold
–
Would the Empire risk an orbital bombardment, or a Base Delta Zero movement?
–
I think it’s more a question of “How long will it take before the Empire risks an orbital bombardment.”
What is this Base Delta Zero thing?
–
Would the Empire’s AT-ATs stand a chance against Godzilla?
–
Well AT-ATs are what, 25 meters tall? Godzilla’s smaller incarnations are 50 meters- and he only gets bigger. This is one of those “dayum” moments where scale is brought into perspective. Godzilla in his larger incarnations can likely punt the things across Coruscant.
Completely forgot this situation sort of canonically happened
===
“How would the Empire react?
–
Like they did against Zillo

“Would they try to weaponize Godzilla?”
–
Now that the Palppy doesn’t have to pretend to be a benevolent leader, hell yeah he would.
“What is this Base Delta Zero thing?”
–
That is basically the order to slag the planet. So yeah as you said.
–
Also George Lucas sort of made the Zillow beast a Star Wars Godzilla thing so yeah,…. That’s a thing. Damn it clone wars!!
The only problem comparing Godzilla to the Zillo Beast is that A: the Zillo Beast had no ranged attacks, B: they used a poison gas to kill it, & C: it was only 97 meters tall. Godzilla has ranged abilities, a healing factor that should negate any poisoning attempt, and all but 2 of his incarnations are over 100 meters tall (the tallest being 212 meters tall iirc) . The Empire will be reduced to orbital bombardment, no if, but when.
Shin Godzilla is coming out this year. So, probably should hold on the godzilla matches until it does.

Guess I should point out Final Wars Godzilla was accurately targeting enemies in space

so… even orbital bombardment is gonna be fairly risky to pull off.

You know Godzilla has died a number of times, right? They used an exotic weapon to kill Zillobeast. They used an exotic weapon to kill Godzilla.
–
Tallest Godzilla currently is 103 meters (Legendary’s Godzilla). The 212m figure is wrong. Official stats put GMK Godzilla at 60 meters, not 212m, and GvD Godzilla was 100m; same as he was at the end of Godzilla vs Space Godzilla.
–
Also, Godzilla has been poisoned before. In Godzilla vs Biollante, the anti-godzilla force (forget their name off hand… was it G-Force during the Heisei era?) poisoned Godzilla with an anti-radiation bacteria.
–
The Republic also had a weapon that could disrupt the nerves of the Zillobeast that they used to put it to sleep. I find it likely that the Imperials could probably do the same with Godzilla.

–
As I remember it did fuck-all to him until hours later- requiring specialized equipment and a battle with another Kaiju (that used its own poison on him as well) to even start to work on him.
–
Albeit that does raise the question- which Godzilla are we working with here? Composite or latest incarnation? Latest incarnation is Bear-Zilla for now, who has… lackluster feats.
–

This of course raises the question of the time-honored game of “Will it work on Godzilla?”
@OriginalA
“You know Godzilla has died a number of times, right? They used an exotic weapon to kill Zillobeast. They used an exotic weapon to kill Godzilla.”
–
Oh, I know:
Showa Era – 1st death – Godzilla (original)- Killed by the Oxygen Destroyer cannon
–
Heisei Era -2nd death – Godzilla I – Falls into a volcano (iirc this got retconed) – 3rd death – Godzilla II – Melts down into atomic energy.
–
Millenium Era – 4th death – Ghost Godzilla – Destroyed by human artillery. (Note: This was in a movie “Godzilla vs Ghost Godzilla” that was never made/scrapped for Godzilla vs Destroya)
———————–
Those are all the times Godzilla has “Died”. He has been defeated before but those are the times he died. Out of all of them only one was done at the hands of someone else (4th one never happened)
While Godzilla is nigh indestructible if the situation gets out of hand Palpatine can opt to BFR Godzilla via Force Storm.
You just beat me to it! GM.
“BFR Godzilla via Force Storm.”
–
I can’t think of a single instance where trying to BFR Godzilla didn’t ultimate backfire somehow.
–
I can’t think of a single instance where trying to BFR Godzilla didn’t ultimate backfire somehow.
–
Actually that’s virtually the only thing that works on him. Sticking him in a volcano or sealing him in ice are pretty much the only things that have ever stopped him.
Besides “death” anyways.
–
Albeit a lot of this depends on where Godzilla lands and starts rampaging, the Emperor can’t Force Storm if he’s dead.
“I can’t think of a single instance where trying to BFR Godzilla didn’t ultimate backfire somehow.”
–
How could Godzilla escape an alternate dimension?
–
“Albeit a lot of this depends on where Godzilla lands and starts rampaging, the Emperor can’t Force Storm if he’s dead.”
–
Unless Godzilla targets him with a soul-killing Attack, which I don’t know Godzilla to have, Palpatine can just possess someone else and then use a Force Storm.
“How could Godzilla escape an alternate dimension?”
–
Something about his radiation rips him back to his reality. They tried that in Marvel. It worked for a brief time but ultimately he came back.
“Actually that’s virtually the only thing that works on him. Sticking him in a volcano or sealing him in ice are pretty much the only things that have ever stopped him.

That’s not BFRing him. He just went to sleep in both instances. When in a fight, he does not go to sleep, obviously. He fought Battra to the point of causing a volcanic under sea eruption, then fought Battra under ground through the magma, and eventually came up through the magma on to land, as I recall. He also shrugged off Ice Man’s attacks, and broke free of Kiryu’s giant block of ice after hit with a beam that is absolute zero in temperature, as well as plowed through the levels of hell that are composed of ice. It’s in his nature to just weather out the cold once there’s no enemy before him but he doesn’t always resort to just hibernation.
–
Here are the Godzilla in Hell instances. First where he defeats Demon Anguiras.

That’s not BFRing him
–
Was he running around blowing Tokyo up after that?
Nope.
Was he defeated?
Nope.
Could he get out under his own power?
Nope.
Sounds like BFR to me, albeit the volcano bit was intentional on his part.
–
Unless Godzilla targets him with a soul-killing Attack, which I don’t know Godzilla to have, Palpatine can just possess someone else and then use a Force Storm.
–
Gonna need a time-frame for how long that takes to happen to be relevant. Also, depending on exactly when in the legends this takes places, the Emperor may not be able to control said Force Storm.
Iirc the only thing Palpatine could possess was his own clones. Should the imperial palace be the first thing reduced to slag palpatine will loose those bodies.

–
But he didn’t leave the location either. That’s not a ring-out. They’re just locking him down ON location. The closest thing to a ring out from any of those is when they encased him on a huge ice berg in Godzilla Raids Again and the ice berg floated away before he decided to free himself in King Kong vs Godzilla.
–
In a similar vein, King Kong trapped Godzilla in an under sea trench in that movie, but when Godzilla was disturbed in the following movie, Godzilla vs Mothra, he immediately got up and started wrecking shit.
–
This isn’t a BFR. This is just putting him in a situation where once there is no challenge in front of him, he tends to just go to sleep.
“Sticking him in a volcano or sealing him in ice are pretty much the only things that have ever stopped him.”
–
Aren’t those just incapacitations and not BFRs?
“Iirc the only thing Palpatine could possess was his own clones. Should the imperial palace be the first thing reduced to slag palpatine will loose those bodies.”
–
He can possess anyone, as long as his will is stronger than theirs. It’s just easier to possess his clones because they have no will of their own.
