Aya Brea (Parasite Eve) & Link (Legend of Zelda) vs Captain America (Marvel) & KGBeast (DC)
Video Games and Comic Books clash in a climactic show down upon the creaking remains of an oil rig that’s ready to collapse at any moment!
Ring out via knocking off the oil rig counts as a win. Causing the oil rig to collapse collapse through collateral damage counts as a loss.
Unlikely allies must deal with CiS of having to contend with the strangeness of their partner in this match. Can they overcome each other’s culture shock to win the day?
No turtling is allowed, as there is a mana-bomb that will rip open the fabric of reality to reveal Trigon on the oil rig. It will blow up in 10 minutes. Both teams were actually dispatched through mysterious benefactors to stop the bomb. They are under the impression that the other team is there to protect it. Failure to stop the bomb in time results in both teams dying.
Special Rules:
Aya Brea from before her most recent game (no teleport/possessing).
Link is from A Link To The Past.
Captain America is from the Movie continuity.
KGBeast is pre-Black Lantern.
Who will win?
Spoiler-alert: This will take a while.
Isn’t Aya Brea the chick who can telepathically set people on fire?
–
Edit: Found it- knew I’d seen her before
parasiteeve.wikia.com/wiki/Parasite_Energy
from trailers we’ve now seen MCU Cap hold a helicopter that was trying to fly and outrun at least a couple of cars in traffic. not sure if it means anything but…eh
It appears Capt. America holds onto a news helicopter, which appears to have a maximum takeoff weight of 5000 pounds, so it looks like MCU Captain America is at 2.5 tons right now.

I believe Aya might have a distinct advantage here, in that she has the Overpowered Weapon: a fuckin’ gun. Link has some dangerous AoE magic, including spells that might turn the others into sheep, or just light them on fire. Besides that, though, I believe Aya has things like Heal, Poison,Slow, and others.
–
Here’s a list of Aya’s spells:
parasiteeve.wikia.com/wiki/Parasite_Energy
=
Holy shit. Aya got a huge fucking boost in the second game. Apparently…Aya can cause fucking NUCLEAR BOMBS to go off inside of her opponents: Great conflagration. Advanced stage. Uses radioactive isotopes to cause nuclear fission. Destroys the target at molecular level. Effect: Aya engulfs every enemy in the room with ash-leaving heat.
@Aelfinn
–
Aya also uses gunblade and magnetic railgun that uses super-sonic rounds in PE 2.
Cap is pretty durable against non cutting force (jumping out of the SHIELD building in WS, not being ripped apart by the helicopter in the trailer, generally getting knocked around a lot throughout the movies), but Aya’s nuclear fission ability would completely bypass that.
–
Cap knows guns pretty well though, and he’s shown in WS that he can either react to or predict where people will shoot, and can block bullets consistently. The gun he could probably handle just fine, and I believe he overpowers Link in physical strength based on my knowledge of this particular Link.
–
Does the nuclear spell have travel time or is it instant? If it has travel time he has a chance to either dodge it or try blocking it. Shield probably wouldn’t work, though.
Yeah, unless America or Beast takes Aya down quickly- she’s got some serious sci-fi magic she can pull.
–
Combustion (makes you combust, notably ignores cover- so irrelevant shield)
Apobiosis (Discharge hits your nervous system to stun you, reaches almost the entire battlefield apparently)
Necrosis (Causes struck part to begin decomposing)
Lifedrain (Heals by siphoning mitochondria from enemies)
Aelfinn already covered the Inferno that reduces you to ash.
I feel as though Aya and Link will have more difficult times adjusting to each other than Cap and KGBeast will, for what it’s worth.
–
Aya comes from NYC a decade ago, looking at the game synopsis.
Link comes from the magic world of Hyrule.
–
Cap is a super powered soldier who works with other super powered soldiers.
KGBeast also works with super powered soldiers.
–
The only weird thing is that Cap is American and KGBeast, is, well, KGB. But I feel like they’d work together much more fluidly than Aya and Link would.
–
–
The whole “destroying the oil rig counts as a loss” part of the match makes it so Link can’t throw bombs around like crazy, and it might restrict Aya, depending on her other powers. Getting knocked off the oil rig is a KO, right? Cap could throw either Link or Aya off the edge pretty easily if he was at all close, and could nudge them off the edge with a shield throw from downtown.
“I believe Aya might have a distinct advantage here, in that she has the Overpowered Weapon: a fuckin’ gun.”
===
Kgbeast has a machine gun for a hand.
“Kgbeast has a machine gun for a hand.”
–
And Cap carried a handgun throughout his WWII battles, but I guess that probably can’t be swung as standard equipment.
Why the hell did he stop carrying a handgun, anyways?

“Link is from A Link To The Past.”
–
So, link can:
–
magic cape:
Become invisible AND intangible
–
Cane of Byrna
Become invincible/ damage enemies he touches
–
Cane of Somaria:
Create exploding walls
–
Ice rod:
freeze people solid
–
fire rod:
Sets fire to guys
–
Ether Medallion:
Pulse of lightning and pressure then freezes people solid.
–
Quake Medallion:
Causes an earthquake, either destroys guys or turns them into Slime}
–
Bombos Medallion:
Link sends out a ring of fire followed by a series of small explosions in all directions
–
Titan’s Mitt:
Significantly increases his strength
–
Mirror shield:
Super tough, reflects magic, yada yada
–
Bottles
Rezes, heals, magic refils ect ect.
–
That is most of this Links hax, that i can remember
@Ramkin
But, given the rules of the match, busting the nearly collapsed oil rig is a failure state.
So I would assume no:
Cane of Somaria
Quake Medallion
Bombos Medallion
And it would be risky to use the Ether Medallion.
–
What’s a strength feat when he uses the Titan’s Mitt?
–
–
Also random-off-topicness, I got bored and decided to do a little calc for AoU Quicksilver. Will post results later.
“What’s a strength feat when he uses the Titan’s Mitt?”
–
They let him lift rocks that are roughly 4x bigger than he is. What they are made of or how strong they make him is beyond me.
–
They dont actually increase attack damage though so it could be argued they only increade his lifting strength….. somehow
“They let him lift rocks that are roughly 4x bigger than he is. What they are made of or how strong they make him is beyond me.
–

–
–
You could probably pass that off as a gameplay mechanic if you really tried. The game would get kinda broken if you gained a proportional increase in attack strength like that.
–
You could just guess at some real-world equivalent to what the rocks are made of based on color, texture, and geological location to get some rough calcs of his lifting strength.
–
–
–
You know how I said the off-topic calc for Quicksilver was little? I lied. It ended up being much more in depth than I thought it would be. Long post incoming.

EVERYTHING BASED ON THIS www.youtube.com/watch?v=KysI-6dFMNM
SCENE
–
Assuming the ammo used by S.H.I.E.L.D. follows NATO standards (high pressure 124-gr round), it can be determined approx. what speed the bullet was flying at. Since Hawkeye’s pistol was some kind of compact/carry pistol, I’ll assume it’ll perform similarly to the Glock 26’s 3.5 inch barrel.
–
The 9×19 round uses a jacketed slug measuring 0.610 inches in length.
–
At that close of range and given the bullet is not destabilized after passing through the glass, the bullet would be travelling at around 1,200 feet per second.
–
After downloading the clip and looking at it in an editor, I’ve got a timeframe for how long the bullet was in the scene. Let’s just call the frame before the bullet appears “Frame 0”. The scene ends on “Frame 108”.
Given that the video plays at 24 frames per second, it can be determined that the bullet is on screen for 4.5 seconds. Just using pixel measuring in Paint at a resolution of 1366×768, going from the first frame the bullet appears to the end of the scene, it travels 593 pixels, with the bullet itself measuring 35 pixels in length. Therefore the bullet travels just under 17 lengths of itself across the scene. Considering the bullet is .61 inches in length, that means it travels approximately 10.33 inches in 4.5 seconds.
–
10.33 / 4.5 seconds
–
2.295 inches per second.
/12 to convert to feet
–
0.19125 feet per second.
–
SO. Quicksilver perceives the bullet that is moving at around 1,200 feet per second as moving at 1/5th of a foot per second.
What does this mean?
It means Age of Ultron Quicksilver, when using his powers, views time as moving around 6,200 times more slowly than an ordinary human would. Impressive. Feel free to use these numbers to see how he would react to other projectiles/attacks.

My only regret that Number 9 was so rare in game. I thought that he will be like Nemesis from RE.

Can’t MCU Cap also push a bulldozer across a field faster than Deathlok? ‘Dozers can get anywhere between 8 and 100 tons (Though I doubt Cap is a 100 tonner)

He can also lift and throw motorcycles pretty easily:

Yes, though we never really did manage to figure out a calc on that. We know it would have taken about 775 thousand Newtons of Force (at a low end) to move it but that’s about it.
Unless it was calced again outside the Khan match

Edit: Also at 2.5 tons MCU Cap is officially the strongest Super Soldier Serum only Steve Rogers (I’d say strongest but there was that version from a future where he kept Mjolnir)

The first Civil War, way back in ’06, was basically a good idea on paper, but poor execution and handling. Tony’s side was basically made to be the bad guys, many characters weren’t in character and the whole thing was a big fat mess and it impacted Marvel for a good while. And apparently it still is impacting since they decided to make a sequel.
—
The only new thing is that Iron Man has even more OP armor and that Captain America is black.
—
Not looking forward to this event, but who knows, maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
What are the odds that captain america and iron man would be on opposite sides again??
I actually heard a rumor that Steve and Tony would be against Sam this time around. And Sam’s current solo series already has Steve and Sam not liking each other, so it actually makes sense.
“The first Civil War, way back in ’06, ”
–
Don’t say “way back” ass hole. Making me feel old. ’06 wasn’t THAT long ago.
O, jeez, it was back in 06! I was like 10, holy shit that’s so long ago!
@Sauro
Almost a decade is a pretty long time…..
I mean, we didn’t even have iPhones back then.

@CH1
I was in elementary school lol
I am not sure how Aya uses radioactive isotopes to cause fission if she doesn’t have a nuclear reactor to cause it. I’m not even sure what the critical mass of Potassium-40 would be, but I doubt there’s enough in a human body to cause fission.
My gawd, that picture… some badass merc wants to look like a certain transsexual from Transylvania. It looks like he has a vibrator on his hand too…
As for Quicksilver, that’s more like 99.98% decrease in speed. The average human reaction time is 250 ms for visual stimuli. Multiply the percentage by 250 and then subtract the new number from 250 and you end up with 0.05 ms, or 50 μs, assuming this is the way this is done.

–
Yeah, my tired brain last night couldn’t think of how to word it exactly. 😛
However it’s supposed to be said, it’s interesting that we have a real number now to see how well he could dodge other things. I would try to do the same for Days of Future Past Quicksilver, but the scene jumps too much to get a good read on how far the bullets move.
@KalaDellexe
I think your example is sufficient, especially being the most recent portrayal of Quicksilver. Having an editor for the clip was the closest you could get to determining the numbers. I think 50 μs is pretty good reaction time, though.
@Kala I know someone has done that, I think I posted it in Flash vs Quicksilver

This should hopefully be far enough down. They revealed Henshaw is actually Martian Manhunter, and on a lesser note acknowledge the Solar Flare thing supes does from the comics.
^ Both of those things were a pleasant surprise.
“@Kala I know someone has done that, I think I posted it in Flash vs Quicksilver”
–
Nice, thanks for sending me to that link.
–
The issue is the other guy’s calcs used .38 special. The guns in that scene actually look quite a lot like a 4″ .357 magnum. I can try and adjust his calc taking that into consideration. It makes Quicksilver a fair bit faster than even that calc. .357 moves 100-150m/s faster.
–
Other random, why is the Marvel vs DC thread so dead? We’ve been getting more weekly feats from the Flarrowverse and AoS.
–
–
More on point, I believe “This character can explode your body in several ways” is pretty basic information about Aya, if the different sides get basic information. If Cap or KGBeast get the jump on her I think they could take her out pretty quick.
–
–
EDIT: More stuff with the Quicksilver DOFP feat, it’s complicated further by the fact that both the gun and the bullet are non-metallic. This means a lighter projectile, so higher speed per amount of powder, but the non-metal chamber also means less load. I would guess it’s a bit slower than standard .357 magnum rounds.
“My gawd, that picture… some badass merc wants to look like a certain transsexual from Transylvania. It looks like he has a vibrator on his hand too…”

Yeah it’s like they found the absolute worst possible picture of him.

Literally picture number 3 on the list of google search for KGBeast. It’s not like it’s hard to find good art of him.
“Actually, if Link is 1.7018 m. tall, and if we double it because it appears to be at least twice his height, and if we then cube it, that ends up being 39.43^3. Multiply that by 2,700 kg/m^3 and you end up with 106.46 metric tons.”
–
woah woah…. how does it look anywhere near twice as tall??
“Actually, if Link is 1.7018 m. tall, and if we double it because it appears to be at least twice his height, and if we then cube it, that ends up being 39.43^3. Multiply that by 2,700 kg/m^3 and you end up with 106.46 metric tons.”
–
It looks to be at most as tall as he is. which gives me…. 34 tons?? Which is an overestimate as far as i can tell. Since the rock doesnt look totally cube shaped.
–
where did you get links height from?
@LadyRamkin
Link is 20 px. The rock is 32 px. 32/20 = 1.6, which is 160%. If Link is 1.7018 m. tall, then the rock is 2.72288 m. If we assume this is true for all dimensions, then that’s a total volume of 20.19 m^3. That multiplied by 2,700 kg/m^3 is 54,506.62 kg., or 54.51 metric tons. We can reduce this to 50 mt if you’d like.
–
As for Link’s height, I’ve been assuming 4’8″ for his young incarnation and 5’7″ for his older incarnation. These aren’t actually unreasonable heights for both ages 10 and 17. 5’7″ is a height that was found in the Lakeside Laboratory measuring graph in OoT, although this wasn’t where I got Link’s height from.
“Link is 20 px. The rock is 32 px. 32/20 = 1.6, which is 160%.”
–
Except zelda games are made in that dodgey isometric view. Surely that screws up pixel measuring??? since you are seeing everything from a weird angle?
Since you are counting pixels, did you take into account that LttP is shot from a 3/4th’s angle?
–
What I mean is that his is how LttP would look like when rendered in 3D:
images.nintendolife.com/news/2013/10/aonuma_demonstrates_the_challenges_of_creating_a_3d_environment_based_on_a_link_to_the_pasts_overworld/attachment/4/original.jpg
–
That is from ALBW. It faithfully recreates the same camera angle from LttP but with 3D models instead of pixels. Nintendo found out that by having the characters and stuff actually stand straight up didn’t get the same look; this was their solution. … So I figured that that probably factors into the math there somehow.
–
EDIT: Lol. Ninja’d
That’s a neat rendering. I know and have seen ALBW, but I’ve never seen it from the angle as shown on the right. I did consider the possibility of the object to be as tall as Link while being longer and wider than him. (That’s what she said.) If what’s seen there is supposed to be what we see in ALttP, the a sphere would do. Using V = 4/3 pi r^3, we’d end up with 6.97 metric tons.
Boy, imagine how strong his heels would be from walking like that all day every day.
OK, so Link could probably overpower Cap now, if that calc is at all accurate. He seems like he is still faster, however. And likely more durable, unless this Link has armor or is special in some way.
–
KGBeast could probably give a gun to Cap, since he’s pictured to have multiple. Then it’s two guns vs one gun and a shield.

Holy hell, that was disappointing. Pretty much no new feats for the Inhuman characters. Everything’s been done before, and they didn’t even show us half of what they did. The only interesting thing is that MCU now has a Goa’uld-esque body snatcher. The “Ancient Inhuman” that’s been exiled on another planet for thousands of years because It was so powerful is…. A slug.
A slug.
On the bright side, It can take over dead corpses and ride them around until they’re destroyed. They depowered it A TON. From dialogue and events it’s a weather manipulator that carries a sandstorm with it and caused earthquakes, but none of that beside MAYBE the sandstorm happened in this episode. It gets stuck in a fistfight for crying out loud.
I’m annoyed, AoS was hyping up the Secret Warriors team and a massive battle with Hydra, plus the horrifying return of this evil Inhuman. We got a lot of talking and a slug, Ugh.
