Perseus Vs Sigurd

Perseus Vs Sigurd

Suggested by Sauroposeidon

Perseus will go up against Sigurd

The biggest hero of Greek myth goes up against one of the best known warriors of Norse lore.

Fighting in Germany’s Black Forest, both warriors come with their full gear.

Because so many of Sigmund’s tales have him being advised by Odin, the God will be allowed to give him information on Perseus before the match starts as a balance against all of Perseus’ special gear such as Pegasus and Medusa’s head.

Who wins?

From what I recalled, the High King Odin of the Aesir and Vanir happens to be an Ancestor to Sigurd, and is this Sigurd the one who bathed in Dragon’s blood by chance?
I wanna be sure so I don’t get anyone mixed up, I mean the High Kings Zeus vs Odin can already go either way, but I’m not too sure how this fight fares personally compared to that.
It’s definitely less destructive overall, that’s for sure.
This is gonna be NUTS in an Absurd kind of way, I just know it!

Well Perseus’ biggest ace (Medusa) isn’t going to be useful if Sigurd knows better.

Sigurd is a mythical Norse Hero.
He has a horse descended from Odin’s Sleipnir.
His sword, Gram, allowed him to cleave an anvil in half- he had broken every other sword he had used before this.
He made a trap and ambushed a dragon, stabbing it in the heart.
After drinking some of the blood he could understand birds and got a bit of foresight.
Found a nice girl and married her, but was slipped a potion of amnesia and forgot about her.
Rode through magical flames that only he could ride through.

    Friendly’s got it.

Also, I realize Pegasus was a late addition to the Perseus myth. I know he has the flying shoes normally.

He gets both. You know, in case Sigurd cuts Pegasus in half or something. It’s so that they both have a steed. However useful or not useful they would be in the Black Forest.

There was nothing special about the flames if I recall, beside being magical so they never went away.

They don’t state how big the fire is that he had to go through.

Either way, seems like a good heat resistance feat. Not sure how useful it is here, of course.

I wondered that myself- no curses- no links- no words that should trip moderation… beats me.

I think Perseus might take this though, in terms of “Surprise hax” he can’t just whip out Medusa’s head to surprise Sigurd, but if he just holds it in front of him Sigurd is kind of screwed unless he’s really good at fighting blind.

Although, if he gets a good shot in at Medusa’s head (enough to destroy it) this would become far closer.

Sigurd is also good enough at setting a trap up that a dragon didn’t notice him as it walked directly over him.

He may be able to somehow ambush Perseus. Maybe.

You are able to look at Medusa’s head via reflection. As done by Perseus himself. No Idea if Sigmund can do that though.

What would Sigurd use to look at it through a reflection, though? Perseus had a polished shield to do that task.

Isn’t Perseus’ sword made out of adamantium? In one of the myths I read it is a u breakable stone, also apparently very very sharp.

Also isn’t Perseus the only Greek hero who’s life didn’t end in tragedy?

Odysseus died happy iirc. But yea not many greek heroes died happy. Heracles died to a shirt, Ajax the greater to an ambush, Achilies by another ambush, Minotaur killing dude got his own dad killed in the end, can not remember about the argo though. terrible stuff. And I can not remember what his sword was made of. Gorgon blood did not melt it though.
