Elemental Battle: Fire, Lightning, Ice

Elemental Battle Fire Lightning Ice

Suggested by Numinous One

Mostly hailing from the same verses, because I’m a slack bastard, we’ll have a trio from each element face off.

Here we go.

Fire.

Genryusai Yamamoto – Bleach

Portgas D. Ace – One Piece

Natsu Dragneel – Fairy Tail

Lightning.

Gilthunder – Nanatsu no Tazai

Enel – One Piece

Laxus Dreyar – Fairy Tail

Ice.

Toshiro Hitsugaya – Bleach

Gray Fullbuster – Fairy Tail

Kuzan – One Piece

Which elemental trio will stand at the top.

Who will win?

And then Thor, Johnny Storm, and Iceman comes in and nukes all’em.

My money is own the fire guys. Two of them don’t even have to move to taise the heat to dangerous levels.

    Inb4 Kain solos.

Thank you, Rookie, for changing the picture.
    That is so much better.
Would have been even better if it was posted tomorrow. Posting one of my matches on my birthday would’ve been cool.

“And then Thor, Johnny Storm, and Iceman comes in and nukes all’em.”

Honestly, Storm and Iceman were the first to pop into my head, but that would be rather… stompy, for everyone not from comics.
I wanted to use water instead of ice too, but I couldn’t think of anyone in that general power range.
While I’m on this topic, can you think of any? I wanted to make a few of these for each element and then pair off the winners, but I had a brainfart and couldn’t think of people.

Aren’t the Bleach characters super-fast? Like hypersonic?

  4. Oh, Answerer Of The Unanswerable August 22, 2015 at 12:19 am -      #4

I mean, Yamamoto’s Bankai pretty much makes ice lose within minutes, right? Not to mention Yamamoto’s Bankai let’s him cut anything (if I remember correctly) and almost untouchable (again, IIRC.) Vs Battle Wiki has calcs that put him at small-country level without Bankai, and his durability at small country level with Bankai.

Looking at VS Battle Wiki, of the Ice Combatants, only Kuzan would be able to get close to hurting Yama-ji. And the only one of the Lightning Combatants that could even have any hope of hurting him is Enel. Going just of VS Battle Wiki’s power tiering, I’d give this fight to the Fire Combatants.

Plus, the whole Yamamoto’s Bankai can bring an back from the dead, and the fact that “For once my Bankai is released, both my body and my blade… // …bear the heat of the very Sun itself.” All kind of really puts it in his favor.

“Aren’t the Bleach characters super-fast? Like hypersonic?”

Pretty sure One Piece is faster.
IIRC the only real quantifiable feat for Bleach is like mach 29.
Fairy Tail has had a few hypersonic feats from memory too, Taurus reacting to and deflecting individual shotgun pellets before they move any considerable distance, Taurus has essentially been fodder tier since his first appearance, and Mira outflying an explosion. She was the literal epicenter of that blast too.
Gilthunder utilizes genuine lightning, he forms the clouds and summons it down, Laxus travels as lightning.

Bleach isn’t alone in the hypersonic speed, and if you take Dolfa’s feat with the meteor, OP top tiers are quad digit mach in reactions.

“Vs Battle Wiki has calcs that put him at small-country level without Bankai, and his durability at small country level with Bankai.”

Yeah but it’s a limited thing IIRC, he takes damage from it.
If it’s up too long he’ll probably kill himself.
As far as the energy output, it doesn’t really match up with the visuals.
It’s one thing to make a statement, but when the effects don’t match up it throws it into question.

Also from experience, the VS Battle Wiki can be rather… unreliable, to say the least, just take what shows there with a grain of salt.

That calc comes from the J/s I think, which is all fire really does, if the surroundings aren’t instantly vaporised from the sheer energy release, there’s no reason to assume other people would be.
Nor has he shown to direct all that energy towards an opponent.
It’s basically make it really, really hot and hope they die before he does.
This is all assuming Yama’s CIS is to go straight for the Bankai and say the fuck the collateral.

Which reminds me, Gray and Laxus should have fairly decent heat resistance.
Natsu vaporised all the sand in a big sand trap and none of the FT members were harmed.
Either they can handle the heat, or Natsu has some fucking ludicrous precision control.

Kuzan effortlessly beats both Ace and Enel. He has shown to have some crazy frost powers. There is no way he isn’t past absolute zero somehow. He is able to freeze hundreds of meters of sea water hundreds of meters deep in less than a second. That’s impossibly cold.

  7. Hac148 August 22, 2015 at 1:15 am -      #7

    @ pimpmage
While i agree with the kuzan vs enel status due to kuzan’s haki abilities, the show itself disagrees with your assessment vs ace
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGu0884-HU4

keep in mind this is a heavy weakened, wounded ace whose vivre card was almost gone.

Toshiro required his bankai x2 in the zanpakuto rebellion arc just to barely hold yama’s shikai at bay, his bankai prevented toshiro from using his shikai almost at all once it was activated, even from miles away.

  8. pimpmage August 22, 2015 at 1:39 am -      #8

The thing is, Ace is incredibly featless compared to kuzan, who kept up against whitebeard.

  9. Rookie August 22, 2015 at 2:07 am -      #9

    @pimpmage

“kuzan, who kept up against whitebeard.”

And did nothing. It was Akainu who was important.

  10. pimpmage August 22, 2015 at 2:27 am -      #10

“And did nothing. It was Akainu who was important.”

Shortly after that battle, akainu and kuzan stalemated for 40 days. They are roughly equal in strength, remember?. Kuzan could easily do everything akainu did. Akainu just got the spotlight. All 3 admirals had a fight against whitebeard, but plot randomly pulls them away several times. All of them stood their ground against him.

    @pimpmage

“Shortly after that battle, akainu and kuzan stalemated for 40 days. ”

This OP, we will get interesting flashback about sooner or later. We do not know yet what exactly happened back then yet.

“Yeah but it’s a limited thing IIRC, he takes damage from it.
If it’s up too long he’ll probably kill himself.”
    – Granted, he couldn’t do it indefinitely, but he could do it long enough to hold out against the enemies.

Even without Bankai, though, Yama-ji is able to punch someone so hard their strengthened body crumbles and they’re sent flying back a city block, his sword-slashes by themselves are large-building busters even if he isn’t using any of his powers (a la the ‘fight’ against Ayon.) Even after fighting, and expending a large amount of his energy, he was able to take a point-blank explosion which could have reduced “An area many times the size of this tiny town” [X] to ash and still had enough energy to use a high-level Kido.

I still think Yamamoto by himself gives this fight to the Fire Combatants… but then I’m not expert on One Piece of Fairy Tail.

  13. Blaze August 22, 2015 at 5:10 am -      #13

Greeting!I am Thor, Supreme Commander of The Asgard Fleet.I am here to put an end to this topic, because suddenly a Panzerkampfelwagen VI arrived on the battlefield and it Panzerkampfelwagened’ all of the combatants.Their new objective is to destroy the Panzerkampfelwagen, and then find the answer for Tobi or not To be.(That was a joke)

  14. Rookie August 22, 2015 at 5:19 am -      #14

    What are Gilthunder’s feats?

  15. Numinous One August 22, 2015 at 5:20 am -      #15

“I still think Yamamoto by himself gives this fight to the Fire Combatants… but then I’m not expert on One Piece of Fairy Tail.”

Wasn’t really trying to downplay Yama, I know he’s impressive, more just pointing out the inconsistencies in the Bankai statement.

Pimp could probably fill you in better on the One Piece characters, he’s already given an example for Kuzan.

Enel is a zippy, lightning orientated intangible.
Best techniques from memory are El Thor and Raigo, the latter is capable of destroying islands of a decent size.
Laxus is much the same, but not intangible.
His casual unnamed attacks are capable of nuking big areas and surpassing like three cloud layers in height, cratering the ground appropriately too.
Gilthunder isn’t nearly at that level of power yet, but NnT has a clear speed advantage over Bleach and FT, and he’s just finished a training thing so he should get some better feats soon.

Gray’s mastered his devil slaying magic now, so Silver’s feat of flash freezing a village and the surroundings for what looked like a sizeable distance should be applicable now that Gray’s surpassed him.
Bearing in mind Natsu couldn’t melt this ice, and his ambiet body temperature has been capable of melting steel since way back in the Phantom Lord arc.

Ace is a fire intangible, can’t recall too many feats aside from somewhat keeping pace with admirals and a large AoE attack against blackbeard.
Natsu likes to hit stuff really hard and his flames are hot as shit. That is pretty much his character summed up.

Gilthunder and the FT crew should be getting some good feats in the current arcs, overpowered demons waging war on the world and overpowered black wizards waging war on the world, respectively.

Also food for thought, the FT characters could literally eat their OP counterparts to powerup.
Not that they would, but I enjoyed it.

  16. Ragnorke August 22, 2015 at 5:49 am -      #16

I’v quantified 3-4 of Ichigos feats from Bleach.
“Hypersonic” (mach 5-15 i think) doesn’t do him justice. He’s easily in the Mach 40+ league.

Combat speed of course. His movement speed isn’t as fast AFAIK.
Not that this is too relevant… Since… Ichigo isn’t in this match.
Jus’ sayin some Bleach characters have really crazy speed feats.

Mind you these calcs had “almost” no assumptions, no power scaling, and no calc stacking.
    It was really straight forward.

  17. Numinous One August 22, 2015 at 6:38 am -      #17

“Mind you these calcs had “almost” no assumptions, no power scaling, and no calc stacking.
    It was really straight forward.”

Really? Honestly I haven’t been paying too much attention to Bleach lately, or at all really.
I’ve been keeping up with it, but not really processing what’s happening.

  18. LadyRamkin August 22, 2015 at 8:50 am -      #18

Um…. Ace is made of fire right? And Natsu can eat fire for a power boost, the more pwerful the flame the greater the power boost… so what happens if Natsu eats Ace? Natsu can also eat lightning so Enel is in trouble.

I assume that Laxus can also eat lightning but i dont think it has ever been shown if a third generation dragon slayer can eat their element or not.

  19. LadyRamkin August 22, 2015 at 8:57 am -      #19

*second, not third….. though now that i think about i dont recall a third gen doing it either.
    – – –
“I’ve been keeping up with it, but not really processing what’s happening”

What is happening is…. have you ever watched someone flog a dead horse??? Ring a dry towel???

  20. pimpmage August 22, 2015 at 10:24 am -      #20

What is the match starting area? I vote for for it to be over kains dead corpse at the end of the soul reaver series. Kitten lord may or may not also be present there too.

  21. Oh, Answerer Of The Unanswerable August 22, 2015 at 12:14 pm -      #21

“Bearing in mind Natsu couldn’t melt this ice, and his ambiet body temperature has been capable of melting steel since way back in the Phantom Lord arc.”
    – Yeah… but Yamamoto’s Bankai (to go back to his Bankai) reaches 15,000,000 degrees, so whether its Celsius or Fahrenheit its many times hotter than the surface of the sun (10,000 F/5,600 C) and if its in Celsius than its the same heat as the core of the sun. So… somewhat hotter than the temp needed to melt steel, haha.
    ==
I found this calc [X] which says that Yamamoto almost tanked a 33 megaton explosion, just to give numbers for that “can survive a city-busting explosion” thing.

And, just as a side thing, as soon as Yama uses his Bankai, Toshiro’s ice powers vanish [X]

And this is what happens as soon as anything is touched by Yamamoto’s Bankai [X – X]

  22. pimpmage August 22, 2015 at 12:22 pm -      #22

What proof is there of that temperature? And by proof, I mean physical effects, not word of mouth.

  23. Oh, Answerer Of The Unanswerable August 22, 2015 at 12:31 pm -      #23

… Uh… well… None, really. I mean, there’s the whole “he’d destroy the whole Seireitei with prolonged use of it” thing, which could be chalked up to its temperature… right? [X] this calc puts the Seireitei at 2.5 Texases in diameter, 705,140.36 sq miles, what’s the calc we’d need to do to find out the temperature needed to evaporate all the water in an area 705,140.36 sq miles large? I’m actually curious to know if there’s a way, ’cause I’ve never seen anything like that.

  24. Friendlysociopath August 22, 2015 at 12:33 pm -      #24

    @Pimp
Are you going Reverse-Chuck-Inglish on us? All of your matches are going to start with Kain’s dead body instead of Dante’s shop?

I’ve been keeping up with it, but not really processing what’s happening.

Rag’s referring to the scene where Ichigo blocks all of those petals from Rukia’s brother. “Millions” of them.

I always felt Natsu was kind of a cheat for elemental stuff like this- just cause he can do lightning too.
