What if Varus had not trusted Arminius before the Battle of Teutoburg forest? (History , why is Edward Cullen appears in History tag by the way? Just noticed. Woe upon us, he is in our history now!)
He was warned beforehand that Arminius was planning a revolt, but he chalked it up to nothing more than gossip and an attempt to smear Arminius, but what if he had listened instead?
Would the Roman conquest and occupation of Germany have been permanent?
Would having Rome’s borders at the Elbe instead of the Rhine have made it more successful at defending against the barbarian incursions that eventually played a part in the Western Roman Empire’s downfall?
Would Rome have even stopped at the Elbe, or would they have pushed even farther into Europe?
