Games To Look Forward To In 2015

games-2015

Last year was a mix bag or disappointment and excitement in gaming, this year I expect no less. These are some of the games I think will do exceptionally well this year and games I am excited to play! In no particular order, lets get started:

Mortal Kombat X

I am a pretty big fan of fighting games, though I mainly play Tekken. However, Mortal Kombat is a game I will occasionally play even though I really suck at it because of how fun it is and this Mortal Kombat looks no different. With the new variations each character adds, it brings a new way to play the game which can keep the game exciting, the game continuous evolves in order to stay fresh.

Dvorah-Mortal-Kombat-X-Variations

As you can see with Kano depending what variation you pick, also changes the way he looks. This way opponents can know what style of fighting to expect from an opponent. I expect a lot of character to be returning to the game and we have already seen some gameplay of some new characters. The only thing I am disappointed by is the fact that the only way you can get fan favourite Goro is by pre-ordering the game.

Halo 5: Guardians

I think 343 Industries have learnt quite a lot for Halo 4 and will make things right for Halo 5. It might just be me being optimistic though. I’ve messed around in the beta and it was surprisingly fun. It is a lot more fast paced  than before due to thruster packs and being able to clamber, but don’t sprint trust me. I am pretty intrigued where they are taking the story since you also play as another character as well as the Chief.

Halo-5-Guardians-multiplayer-2

I hope in time they will show off a little more and my mind can be at ease but I’ll just have to wait and see.

Bloodborne

Dark Souls is a lot of fun and that’s pretty much the only reason why this is on my list, the gameplay looks similar and the setting has my attention hooked. Not gonna lie I don’t know too much about this game as I would rather go into it blind like I did with Dark souls….well that was the case until I found out it is PS4 only.

The Order: 1886

I constantly heard people praising this game and saying it was going to be amazing, so I thought I’d check out some videos and I have to say the game looks pretty damn gorgeous as well as interesting. The story behind the game has my interest piqued enough to want to see how it progresses but I’m not too bothered about it.

2438185-global+exclusive+3

But then I learn that this was a PS4 exclusive…sigh.

GTA V

I know what you’re thinking, It’s already out though, but not on the PC it isn’t! The main reason why I can’t wait to play this on PC. One word. Mods. There are some very creative and capable modders out there who I will imagine can make some very fun mods. I don’t think I even need to say much about this game.

Batman: Arkham Knight

The last batman game from Rocksteady is coming out this year. They have created a series of games which I absolutely love. The combat is a little weird and countering is pretty easy but the overall game is good enough for me to look over that. The Arkham Knight has left people wondering whether this is an entirely new character or someone we already know, I’m not to sure just yet but my original thought was Jason Todd.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Admittedly I’ve never played a Witcher game in my life but the constant praise and annoyance from friends to play it means it is somewhere on my list. I honestly don’t know much about it other than the fact people have really been looking forward to this game, it has been delayed before in order to make the game better and that the graphics are amazing.

Star Wars: Battlefront 3

I don’t think that I really need to say much about this, I mean it’s Battlefront from DICE who made Bad Company. Just enjoy the image below.

Battlefront-3-fake-top

No Man’s Sky

I know very little about this game, there is a vast number of worlds to explore each with it’s own inhabitants and minerals to discover, space and ground combat. There is also an end game to reach to which I think is to get to the center of the universe. They have kept a lot quiet about this game, so there is more to expect.

If you think there are some other games which aren’t listed but should be, let me know below.

Final Fantasy XV if the rumors of a 2015 release are true. I too, am excited for MK X and Arkham Knight. Halo 5 looks great as well.

Is the new Legend of Zelda coming out in 2015, or Metroid if not then none of these games are really catching my attention.

  3. Tyran January 17, 2015 at 11:12 am -      #3

    Halo 5!!!! XD

  4. Cassie Hack January 17, 2015 at 11:18 am -      #4

Oh Star Fox is slated for 2015 and I forgot about the new Xenoblade game.

There is also the supposed release of DBZ revelations which I’m excited for. MMOrpg DBZ style

Kingdom Hearts 3 should be cool, but I don’t think it’s been confirmed for 2015 yet.

Halo 5 will probably be the first Halo I won’t get, for a multitude of reasons. I don’t want to get an Xbox One, Halo 4 had good multiplayer, but the campaign wasn’t good enough to warrant me getting 5, and there’s other stuff I want.

  7. Epicazeroth January 17, 2015 at 11:46 am -      #7

Yeah, but the real question is: Can your computer run Wild Hunt? Cause the specs are ridiculous; I sure as fuck don’t know very many people who can.

“Final Fantasy XV if the rumors of a 2015 release are true. I too, am excited for MK X and Arkham Knight. Halo 5 looks great as well.”
I actually don’t know anything at all about FF XV, I’ll check it out.

    @Cassie Hack
I don’t have any nintendo consoles so I’ve not included them as I know nothing about any games coming out.

“Kingdom Hearts 3 should be cool, but I don’t think it’s been confirmed for 2015 yet.”
It hasn’t been confirmed as far as I am aware.

Master Chief collection and 2 friends are the reason why I got a xbone, otherwise I was pretty tempted to get a PS4, kinda regret it now.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pains I’ve been waiting quite a while for it.

  10. nsl98 January 17, 2015 at 12:25 pm -      #10

Honestly, with what info has been given about KH III, I’m expecting late 2016, mid 2017 at the latest.

  11. Friendlysociopath January 17, 2015 at 12:32 pm -      #11

Kingdom Hearts 3 should be cool, but I don’t think it’s been confirmed for 2015 yet.

Depends how much credit you want to give Goofy’s VA. He went on twitter and said his lines were all done and the game should be coming soon-ish.
SE later said, “The KH release date is still unannounced” You can interpret that how you wish.

For me, FF15, Persona 5, Disgaea 5, The Witcher 3, Tales of Zestiria, KH3 if it happens.

A crap ton of this depends on whether I can save up enough for a PS4. Wasted $60 on background checks and still couldn’t get a job at the schools.

  12. TheSorrow January 17, 2015 at 12:50 pm -      #12

Oh right nearly forgot, Monster Hunter 4, that’s definitely something to look forward.

  13. Hitman H94 January 17, 2015 at 1:22 pm -      #13

“Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pains I’ve been waiting quite a while for it.”
I’ve only played sons of Patriots and that was for like 10 mins before I got bored, the MGS games are something I want to try but it sucks they are PS exclusive.

I’ve also never played a Kingdom Hearts game, I am guessing that needs to be rectified.

  14. TheSorrow January 17, 2015 at 1:36 pm -      #14

Yeah MGS is the kind of game you really got to be patient with when it comes to it’s cutscenes. You know you’re in it for the long haul when they start talking to you about past events. Either you love it, or you hate it, and the ones that love it are die-hard fans.

  15. Friendlysociopath January 17, 2015 at 1:40 pm -      #15

I’ve also never played a Kingdom Hearts game, I am guessing that needs to be rectified.

    It’s a fun series:
    KH1 is good for nostalgia
KH2 is good for cool battle sequences
KH:CoM is good for nothing (Except using Cloud Strife as a summon, that was cool)
KH3DS is good for flowmotion and cute minions
KH:BBS is good for actually understanding what in the living hell is going on
KH 358/2 days is a decent background game

If you do want in, get one of the .5 versions like 1.5 or 2.5. You’ll be given the cutscens of the portable games.

  16. TheSorrow January 17, 2015 at 1:40 pm -      #16

Well I shouldn’t say hate, it’s more like they just get frustrated.

  17. Blossom January 17, 2015 at 2:37 pm -      #17

I’m excited for the new Star Wars: Battlefront, anybody else?

Also, Rise Of The Tomb Raider and Evolve

  18. Hitman H94 January 17, 2015 at 2:40 pm -      #18

    @TheSorrow
I really don’t mind cutscenes at all, as long as they are informative, move the story is some way or are just plain awesome.

    @Friendlysociopath
Hmmm a lot of choices there…

    @Blossom
Is that being released this year?!
Also I have lost hope for evolve, the beta is fun but they have ruined the game for me.
I’m sill playing the first Tomb Raider, its pretty awesome so far.

  19. nsl98 January 17, 2015 at 2:50 pm -      #19

    @Hitman

Be sure to play them in order, otherwise you won’t know what’s going on. If you have a PS3, just get 1.5 and 2.5 and you’ll have every game except for the 3DS one.

  20. Blossom January 17, 2015 at 2:50 pm -      #20

    @Hitman H94
It’s coming out sometime in 2015, when hasn’t been specified yet. I’d expect later in the year, though.

  21. Hitman H94 January 17, 2015 at 2:58 pm -      #21

    @NSL
I’m on the Microsoft side of things :/

    @Blossom
I think I remember it being mentioned that it would be released late this year, but I haven’t heard anything since the announcement so I can’t really put it up.

I just remembered No Man’s Sky, I am intrigued by the game but don’t know much about it.

  22. TheSorrow January 17, 2015 at 3:02 pm -      #22

I really don’t mind cutscenes at all, as long as they are informative, move the story is some way or are just plain awesome.

Ah, normally that’s the number 1 complaint people have about it. I personally am entertained by how they add to real life historical events. People say it’s unnecessary to recap it, but it adds to the charm in my opinion.

Now as for other games I am looking forward to, if Silent Hills were to come out this year, it would definitely be on my must buy list.

  23. nsl98 January 17, 2015 at 3:03 pm -      #23

    @Hitman

Well, at least KH 3 is coming to XBox 1. You could always Google the story or something.

  24. hellboy147 January 17, 2015 at 3:22 pm -      #24

Uncharted 4 Thieve’s End and The order for me.

  25. Friendlysociopath January 17, 2015 at 3:32 pm -      #25

Battlefront 3 is a 2015 release? Awwww, curse you wallet.

  26. Envoy January 17, 2015 at 4:02 pm -      #26

    No mention of Splatoon? Blasphemous.

  27. the_man_with The_Answers January 17, 2015 at 4:18 pm -      #27

Battlefront 3 and Halo 5 for me. I try to stick to 4 games a year unless I get a major deal on some. Last year it was Destiny, GTA V, Far Cry 4, and Master Chief Collection. Also ended up with Assassin’s Creed Unity, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, and Worms:Battlegrounds for free. This year it is slated to be Halo 5, GTA V (Curse you friends who got it on next-gen), Battlefront 3, and maybe one more. If I don’t buy a 4th game then oh well, I’ll have some extra cash to put into upgrades for my rifle. Or maybe money towards my paintball gear.

  28. Centurion-A001 January 17, 2015 at 4:48 pm -      #28

I never really was into video games. I play plenty of them, but only when it’s convenient and not too much of a hassle. I don’t have an X-box one or PS4 yet.
Mortal Kombat was never very fun for me, I won more often than not, I just thought it was boring.

I only like Halo 1, 2, and Reach. 3 was..okay, but not up to much. I was completely sick of 4 about halfway through.

    The rest..ehhhh.
Mass Effect is more of what I like.

  29. Centurion-A001 January 17, 2015 at 4:55 pm -      #29

I am however, looking forward to Arkham Knight, mostly cause I’m a Batman fan. I really want to know who the Arkham Knight is. My knee-jerk guess was Azreal.

  30. Secrecy27 January 17, 2015 at 5:46 pm -      #30

Battlefront 3 is a must. No one going for DA:inquisition?

  31. Neon Lord January 17, 2015 at 7:11 pm -      #31

Battlefront 3 is one to definitely look out for.

Tom Clancy’s The Division also looks pretty good. Very tactical gameplay and cool tech and story.

Is Star Citizen coming out this year? That looks really cool with all the features constantly being added into it.

Bunch of other smaller indie games I look forward to seeing this year as well. No Man’s Sky as mentioned earlier may be one of them depending if they add more features to it.

  32. Numinous One January 17, 2015 at 7:13 pm -      #32

Isn’t Battlefront 3 being released alongside Episode VII? So far out of reach..
At least my wallet has time to recuperate.
After BF 3, probably looking forward to FF15, Witcher and KH3 the most.
Might get Halo 5 as well.

  33. Friendlysociopath January 17, 2015 at 7:14 pm -      #33

Battlefront 3 is a must. No one going for DA:inquisition?

Well it was released last year. Not with very much of last year to go mind you.
I did buy it but my PC (which I was told by supposed tech-savvy friends could play it) couldn’t run it even at lowest settings. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize this until the return warranty a week after purchase or 24 hours of launch had expired.

Sort of backburner games but I’m also looking forward to: Evolve (Which my PC can play) and Hyperdevotion Noire, plus I’m waiting for the Mordheim video game to be finished.

  34. Warlock Lowk January 17, 2015 at 7:19 pm -      #34

Battlefront 3, Arkham Knight, No man’s sky, Tomb Raider, and TC: The Division for me. I want to put some hope for another ME game this year but I doubt thats coming. Last I checked they had barely gone into the testing stage.

“I’m not to sure just yet but my original thought was Jason Todd.”

I think it was leaked Todd is going to be in it but as Red Hood.

  35. Warlock Lowk January 17, 2015 at 7:24 pm -      #35

    “My knee-jerk guess was Azreal.”

That’d be a pretty drastic change from how he was in Arkham City.

  36. Epicazeroth January 17, 2015 at 7:42 pm -      #36

@Friendly: “I did buy it but my PC (which I was told by supposed tech-savvy friends could play it) couldn’t run it even at lowest settings.”
Really? Does your computer have multiple graphics cards? If it does, it might be using the weaker one; for example if you have Intel Integrated Graphics and a real GPU.

  37. Kara Zor-El January 17, 2015 at 7:53 pm -      #37

    “No one going for DA:inquisition?

Considering it came out last year, and was fucking baller, I don’t think it’ll be a “game that comes out in 2015 that I would like”. In fact, was my GotY for 2014.
    _
I agree with the Order 1886 and Batman. No Man’s Sky looks awesome. FF Type O HD and XV if it comes out. Others too, which names escape me right now.

  38. Centurion-A001 January 17, 2015 at 8:03 pm -      #38

“That’d be a pretty drastic change from how he was in Arkham City”

Maybe, from what I remember he was just all cryptic and sneaky, we never really saw much of what he was like. He may have decided to take matters into his own hands after a perceived failure on Batman’s part.

  39. the_man_with The_Answers January 17, 2015 at 8:16 pm -      #39

“Well it was released last year. Not with very much of last year to go mind you.”

Battlefront 3 was not released last year…

He was referring to Dragon Age Inquisition.

  41. Friendlysociopath January 17, 2015 at 8:21 pm -      #41

Battlefront 3 was not released last year…

    I was talking about Inquisition.
    Ah them ninja’s.

Does your computer have multiple graphics cards?

Yep, it was using the right one. The processor isn’t good enough.

  42. Alpha or Omega January 17, 2015 at 10:24 pm -      #42

I’m hoping my friend buys most of the games, and what games I can’t get, I buy on Steam later for a good deal.
    I’m a cheapskate.

  43. the_man_with The_Answers January 17, 2015 at 11:07 pm -      #43

    “I was talking about Inquisition.”

    Oh, that’s my bad.

  44. Warlock Lowk January 17, 2015 at 11:18 pm -      #44

“He may have decided to take matters into his own hands after a perceived failure on Batman’s part.”

Yeah but aesthetics wise just seems to big a difference. Az seemed more like a old school blade guy over. Arkham Knight seem more gun and tech man.
Don’t get me wrong I still want Az to show up, partly because he gave that prophetic warning and didn’t really do much else.

  45. Centurion-A001 January 17, 2015 at 11:33 pm -      #45

True, but perhaps he wanted to keep his identity and affiliations secret? I don’t know, it’s just the only guy that really makes sense to me. If it turns out to be the Joker, I’m gonna be f*cking pissed.

  46. Warlock Lowk January 17, 2015 at 11:58 pm -      #46

Has anyone else noticed some games are getting huge? Like ridiculously huge? Feels like every other game I’ve played is getting to elder scroll levels of scale.
EDIT: Actually no, some feel bigger.
    ===
“True, but perhaps he wanted to keep his identity and affiliations secret? I don’t know, it’s just the only guy that really makes sense to me. If it turns out to be the Joker, I’m gonna be f*cking pissed.”

Could be Hush. New 52 revealed another billionaire with a flair with tech and weapon with Wrath. I don’t think Damian has been introduced yet in that universe.
Not sure how I would feel it turning out to just be some new character but I feel like that be the best way from letting anyone guess who it is before they go through the story.

  47. Centurion-A001 January 18, 2015 at 12:02 am -      #47

I doubt it’s Hush, he’s already been shown to be pretty much identical to his comic counterpart.
    .
Wraith is a good one. It could also be Thomas Wayne, you know the Court of Owls guy. I agree with you about the original character angle though.

  48. GMoney January 18, 2015 at 12:33 am -      #48

I’m looking forward to Arkham Knight, Battlefront 3 and Phantom Pain. I really hope this year is much better for gaming, as the last 2 years in gaming have been downhill from 2012.

  49. MrRyder January 18, 2015 at 3:53 am -      #49

Some games have already been mentioned here that I’m looking forward to, but one that hasn’t been said yet: Evolve

  50. Hitman H94 January 18, 2015 at 1:21 pm -      #50

I’ve heard Hush’s name being thrown around a fair amount as a contender as the Arkham knight.

DA: O came out last year and I haven’t played a single DA game which is why i haven’t got DA: O yet.

I am going to add Battlefront 3 and No Man’s Sky to my list since I totally forgot about both games.

As for Evolve, after playing the beta for a while and after the DLC stuff, I am going to wait for the price to drop drastically before I even consider picking it up.

  51. Sardine GOD January 20, 2015 at 12:40 pm -      #51

Kingdom Hearts 3 definitely hoping it will be soon. Playing through Birth By Sleep Final Mix now, loving every minute of KH2.5 lol.

Also didn’t even know DICE was making Battlefront. I only recently got into the Battlefield franchise, so I am definitely looking forward to what they do with the franchise here.
