Robotech Vs Destiny

Robotech Vs Destiny

Suggested by War Wizard

For the final match of 2014, I am taking liberties of running the site and posting a match that I want to see.

Here we have all of the Robotech world (All three wars, generations, etc) going up against all that is Destiny.

All of the races are aligned to help each other in their respective universe.

Fight to the finish – no survivors.

Which side wins?

    Just looking at the picture of the Robotech side makes me think they are going to win, but I’m going to need some info on them.

    So far Robotech will win in a stomp.
    I am sure that in future there will be some new races in Destiny lore who will be as powerfull as Forerunners and Destiny might win in the end, but so far…. Robotech verse for 2014 year BankGambling Award.

    Ooh shiny; based on that picture alone, I should watch Robotech.

    It also looks like Robotech should take this without much trouble.

    You guys always seem so sure of stomps. It’s kinda funny. Maybe you should try debating for the under dog to make comments that are worth typing.

    With more reading, Destiny has ftl drives on all of ours common ships. If players are counted as population with ftl ships, they could have tens of thousands of potential ftl ships hitting the planet or other ships.

  11. Rookie December 31, 2014 at 10:52 am -      #11

    @pimpmage

    “ships hitting the planet”

    That’s the problem. They don’t do orbital bombardment it seems.

  12. pimpmage December 31, 2014 at 10:58 am -      #12

    I meant literally ftl ships ramming planets.

    “I meant literally ftl ships ramming planets.”

    It doesn’t look that this is in their character to use ships like that.

  14. pimpmage December 31, 2014 at 11:15 am -      #14

    Their character? You mean the player? As a player, you could do whatever in the world you should want.

  15. Rookie December 31, 2014 at 11:18 am -      #15

    @pimpmage

    “Their character? You mean the player?”

    Did they ever used ships to ram worlds?

    “As a player, you could do whatever in the world you should want.”

    Oh, the irony… sorry if you didn’t play in Destiny, the joke is it’s have very little of “do whatever in the world you should want.”.

    Isn’t Gaurdians respawing a canon thing? Because unless the Guardian’s Ghost dies they can just keep coming back, right? Plus Guardians themselves are pratically one man armies. And we don’t see it but lore wise the Vex were mentioned to have done some insane things like converting Mercury in only a matter of days iirc

  17. pimpmage December 31, 2014 at 11:31 am -      #17

    They can’t because game mechanics don’t allow this to happen. That’s like saying nukes in some video games are not real nukes because the entire map doesn’t actually get leveled. Free thinking human minds that know ships are expendable with so many readily available. What possible reason would they not stoop to such tactics? World you rather die before losing your ship?

  18. Private Khaos December 31, 2014 at 11:34 am -      #18

    I agree with Pimpmage. Your survival in battles like these are more important than ships especially if they’re replacable so it’s a tactic that could be used but the question is should it be used and will it be effective at all?

  19. pimpmage December 31, 2014 at 11:38 am -      #19

    Well I’d like to know more about the ftl they use. If they use alternate dimensions or portals this ftl trick would not work.

  20. Warlock Lowk December 31, 2014 at 12:13 pm -      #20

    “If they use alternate dimensions or portals this ftl trick would not work.”

    That would currently be filed under the “I don’t even have time to explain why I don’t have time to explain” pile.
    Other then the Guardians and team Traveler(Possibly the fallen and Cabal as well)
    Vex just seem to teleport.
    Hive open portals in space.
    ===
    “They can’t because game mechanics don’t allow this to happen.”

    There is the fact that each ship also tend be expensive to replace. And the fact that most are basically working off scraps as it is to cobble ships up.

    Survival is all well and good but they still need those as means of travel. besides that making them uses up precious resources, resources that are also used to help make everything else. Expensive in Destiny isn’t even a thing they can shirk off in times of need. The currency is literally one of the things used to make stuff.
    Necessity of those ships, price, work, and resources available kind of limit the option to use them as missiles.

  21. pimpmage December 31, 2014 at 12:22 pm -      #21

    Is it canon that there are many players? Like TES online? Or is only the main character supposed to exist? If the entire player base is included, money and ships literally hold like no value anymore.

    Lies n slander. I play it and last I checked Im at least somewhere in the somebody range.

    @Pimp
    I dunno. Though it is mentioned that guardians in the thousands were lost in the battle for the moon.

    Nobody has mentioned that some Destiny classes (warlock class) have magic like abilities. This is also true for some enemies such as the fallen. The fallen also have completely unknown numbers and supposedly live throughout a large portion of space. Not to mention they have both hordes of weaklings and giant war monsters. Each playable class also has an ability that completely anihilates whoever it hits (they turn white and then fall apart sort of like a disintegration effect). I don’t know what the robotech team is bringing, but Destiny totally has a magic esque advantage. And I haven’t even mentioned Destinies super intelligent war robots who if I remember have ftl travel.

    Jets that turn into mechs, spaceships that turn into mechs, and a shitton of missile and beam spamming.

    Ouch, clearly robotech is very powerful in the missile and beamage departments. Watching that made my ears ring and the room get hotter. Though Destiny has some impressive fighters and advanced militaries, I can’t say they have anything close to that destructive power. From what I now know I would say Destinys only saving grace is the city sized shield humanity is protected by. So far the sheild has been impenetrable, however it has never faced a full scale attack. Especially not of the force robotech could bring. Smaller versions are summonable by some troops.

    I don’t know much about Destiny but I can tell you a lot about Robotech.

    The Earth forces are relatively few, their war machine buildup occurs over the course of about 30 years in the show, they have a few hundred ships, all with FTL capability, energy and conventional weapons and various levels of shielding.

    The Zentreidi have MILLIONS of warships of various sizes and capabilities. Their ships have powerful offensive weaponry, FTL, but minimal defensive capability aside from their armor and the ability for their ships to self repair. They have an unknown though likely very limited number of ships capable of destroying planets outright, and their fleets are more than capable of glassing planets in a single barrage.

    The Robotech Masters have a couple dozen ships including cruisers and their massive city ships. Their ships have formidable offensive and defensive energy weapons, formidable defensive shielding, FTL, and ruthless crews, though not the most proficient leaders.

    The Invid are divided into two factions, one uses powered mecha almost exclusively, their ships are little more than transports, the other faction has that and an extensive army of robotic warriors. Given enough resources the Invid can literally equip and field every member of their entire race, and their pilots are coordinated by a telepathic Hive mind. They use a form of teleportation for their FTL, and they can materialize and begin fighting immediately. The Invid are constantly working to improve their abilities and will quickly study and learn from enemies and adapt.

    The Sentinels Races are a group of races that were subjugated by the Robotech Masters, they have very little fighting forces of their own relative to the other factions.

    The Haydonites have a small known fleet similarly capable to that of the Robotech Masters, though their focus seems to be more on stealth.

    The Disciples of Zor are an as yet unknown faction in Robotech, it is known that they were powerful enough to fight the Zentreidi so we can assume that they have similar numbers of ships that are similarly capable.

    These are the major factions in Robotech, in addition to their warships each also fields massive armies of mecha of varying capabilities.

    I think Destiny would win this one, courtesy of the Vex alone. The Vex possess ontological weaponry, i.e. have the ability to decide what exists and what doesn’t. One Gorgon could wipe out an entire Zentradi fleet by simply observing it, acknowledging it as detrimental to the Vex, and deleting it from existence.

  30. Warlock Lowk January 7, 2015 at 6:39 am -      #30

    Gorgan’s power and location are limited to the vault of glass. Nevermind the fact that they apparently can’t see very far.
