Percy Jackson Vs Link

Percy Jackson Vs Link

Suggested by nsl98

Percy Jackson faces Link (Legend of Zelda) in three different scenarios:

Round 1: Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass Link. No time stops. Every other item allowed.

Round 2: Twilight Princess Link.

Round 3: Hyrule Warriors Link.

Best two out of three wins.

Who prevails?

    @Myrm
    How dire? I’m positive he isn’t Wolverine…

    He had his chest ripped open and healed from that seconds after taking a dip in water.

    How fast is Percy on this site?

    Casual arrow timer (slices entire volleys out of the air, deflects/dodges them mid combat). He has one or two bullet timing feats, but nothing like Spider-Man or Cloud Strife. He also has fast combat speed.

    Needless to say, he’s faster than Link. That I’m sure of.

    As for the match itself, I think HW Link has the best chance of the three in play here.

    =
    That’s….actually more impressive then I thought.

    Question: Has Percy had expierience fighting people as strong as Warriors Link? He makes shockwaves with his casual strikes and barrels through entire armies of enemies.

    Speed to take on an army begs to differ. Link seems to be the faster one here.

    How much water nearby? And what was the starting distance between the two?

    According to FP rules, enough for Percy to operate at optimum efficiency- so at least 10,000 gallons- at the minimum.
    Distance is always vague- when a debate depends on range I tend to think that the side that requires being far away to survive should be the loser. That’s my personal view though.

    Has Percy had expierience fighting people as strong as Warriors Link?

    Actually yes, if we take him fighting Gods into account- weren’t they swatting one another through mountains or something in the later books?
    Percy shakes the ground with the force of his attacks, he might be closer to Hyrule Link than you’d think.

    Speed to take on an army begs to differ.

    That’s quite honestly not helpful in the slightest. (Not a slam on you)
    It gives us no indication of how fast Link can move or strike, which leaves us with his gameplay- which does not paint him as fast enough to speedblitz Percy.

    Percy has feats of blocking a bullet after it is fired, and is implied to be quite fast when fighting too.
    However, his water is apparently the game-changer for most of his matches; he’s shown no issue with drowning/restraining opponents with water.

    Well, both are swordfighters. Maybe it starts at close range?

    Well that is unfortunate for Link then.

    Just curious:
    Why are the movies allowed for Harry Potter or Hunger Games and not Percy Jackson? I don’t think it changed him that much. Then again…my memory is a bit hazy.

    The movies had Percy as a Half-wit on combat only, but the real problem is that the 1st movie only showed a tiny segment of Percy’s Uncle’s place, not even close to all of it and only the Biggest Jackasses go on that spot anyway.
    Also, Persephone RARELY DOES Adultery(Post-Martial Relationship Cheating) on her part, attempting to describe how seldom she does it is like describing how often Aphy recycles her own Gene Pool as far as Incest goes.
    Which is to say, So Rarely you’d be surprised it happened or happens at all when you 1st hear it, really.
    I am no Purist either for the record, and Dionysus didn’t appear on C.H.B at all in the 1st movie and he and Chiron are equally responsible for the Boot Campers’ Combat Training and making sure they get back to Camp Alive, really.

    Like I said, it’s a draw at the moment, and may those who died/got banned for our sins rest in heavenly peace.
    And may the likes of those of 2013 NEVER know blissful peace at all.

    Why are the movies allowed for Harry Potter or Hunger Games and not Percy Jackson?

    I can’t speak for Hunger Games, but HPverse has a canon order that has been “officialized”. It goes something like this
    1st- JKR made it (Books)
    2nd- JKR helped with it (Films)
    3rd- JRK allowed it (Video games)
    and so long as they don’t contradict the level of canon above them, they are all canon.

    Percy on the other hand had the Author explicitly state he wouldn’t even watch the movies because they weren’t his characters.

    So alot of the arguments put forward for percy in this match (certainly not all) were that Percy wins by simply drowning his opponents. Thete has been a lot of support recently for ensureing that combatants act In Character. It is not in Percys character to instantly drown anyone (or destroy castles with tidal waves) is it worth reevaluateing this??

  8. Nsl98 October 20, 2015 at 6:23 pm -      #708

    Percy is still faster than all three Link’s in this match, and stronger than at least two of them. His hurricane would screw them over quite badly as well.

    I still maintain that HW Link has the best chance of the three though.

  9. LadyRamkin October 20, 2015 at 7:02 pm -      #709

    And Link has a remarkable amount of super hax abilities.

  10. Nsl98 October 20, 2015 at 7:13 pm -      #710

    Like what?

    It is not in Percys character to instantly drown anyone (or destroy castles with tidal waves) is it worth reevaluateing this??

    That’s a pretty bold claim, every time Percy has had the opportunity he has certainly used nearby water to assist him in combat.

    Just a lot of the time he doesn’t have it nearby- which may be an issue here as Soul and Alpha pointed out in the Topia- Percy can fight just fine without the water.
    In which case, it is not always necessary for water to be included in “neutral arenas”.

  12. LadyRamkin October 21, 2015 at 8:02 am -      #712

    “That’s a pretty bold claim,”

    That Percy doesn’t instantly force water down the throats of his enemies? And the one time he did, he felt really bad about it, and promised he wouldnt do it again.

    “Like what?”

    Time stops
    Moon drops
    ect

  13. Mea quidem sententia October 21, 2015 at 8:31 am -      #713

    I see no one brought up the 1.505 TW/s calculation that a hurricane would produce. A mature hurricane would generate between 50 to 100 TW. How does Link handle this?

  14. Friendlysociopath October 21, 2015 at 8:57 am -      #714

    That Percy doesn’t instantly force water down the throats of his enemies?

    That would be the “Doesn’t kill” thing, we remove that.
    Percy’s first move in any given situation when he has water at hand is to use it to incapacitate his enemy.
    Giant boar? Drown it.
    Robot spiders? Drown them.
    Gorgon? Smash it with water fists.
    Roman demigods? Trapped in the water.
    Bunch of ghosts? Tidal wave.
    Goddess of Poison? Choked on her own tears.
    Rag and I actually have a water-fist calc floating around here somewhere about how much force Percy hits with- it was substantial.

    Percy has a “don’t kill” philosophy where humans are concerned, which is technically very racist.

  15. Nsl98 October 21, 2015 at 9:00 am -      #715

    Time stops
    Moon drops
    ect

    Percy can resist time manipulation with water. And it’s not a real Moon.

  16. LadyRamkin October 21, 2015 at 9:07 am -      #716

    “How does Link handle this?”

    Iron boots?
    – – –
    “That would be the “Doesn’t kill” thing, we remove that.”

    Im not saying that he wouldn’t use water to attack. But his primary method of dealing with threats would be sword combat. First thing he always does is uncap riptide. Even when he made the giant water hands and “killed” the gorgans he had been repeatedly taking them out in other ways for weeks before the water hand incident.

    “Giant boar? Drown it.”

    Proof he drowned that.
    – – –
    “Robot spiders? Drown them.”

    How does a robot drown?
    – – –
    “Goddess of Poison? Choked on her own tears.”

    Which is the only instance of him actually drowning a perso….mon…. go….. thing.

    Im nt saying that this match goes completely differently or even very differently at all.

    But a lot of the posts involved were along the lines of,
    “Percy holds him and fills his lungs with water, he dies.”
    Which i think is not how he would fight as a character, even in a death match.

    I was just wondering if it was worth a cursory
    reevaluation

  17. LadyRamkin October 21, 2015 at 9:11 am -      #717

    “Percy can resist time manipulation with water. ”

    Are you really going to make me go there again????? we ALWAYS go there. I wish you would tell me what it is that i say that fails to convince you. Just ignoring that i said anything is super rude.
    – – –
    “And it’s not a real Moon.”

    …………… well….. its magicall created…. and quite small….. but its still a moon right…. or is it a satellite…. i mean, moons are satellites….. but are satellites moons?… probably not.

  18. LadyRamkin October 21, 2015 at 9:23 am -      #718

    “Percy can resist time manipulation with water. ”

    Okay, new angle.
    Percy gets caught in Links Time stop. Or extreme slow as it has been made for this match.

    Percy is like “oh shit, need me some water to cancel this time fuckery”.

    Before his neurons have enough time to even release enough acetylcholine to activate the SECOND neuron required for him to blink. Link has stabbed him. 3698 times. Good thing he can “allegedly” resist that with water.

    And even if he did think fast enough to register he needed water. The water IS ALSO SLOW.

  19. Friendlysociopath October 21, 2015 at 9:23 am -      #719

    Which i think is not how he would fight as a character, even in a death match.

    While true, he’s not going to incapacitate Link with water and then walk up to stab him. That’s just not practical- and we know Percy is a very practical person.

    or is it a satellite

    Remember that we, very uncreatively, call our moon, The Moon. There are almost certainly moons of that size somewhere in the galaxy; but yes they would be classified as satellites- the same as our moon.

    Are you really going to make me go there again?

    At this point I can see both sides and it’s something of an interpretation call.
    Percy has resisted a time stop.
    Link has a time stop.
    If you split hairs too heavily very few people have resistances to anything, but on the other hand, splitting hairs is often necessary when techniques do not work a certain way.

    Consider Caster from Fate/stay night. Saber and other classes have a high magic resistance, meaning you can’t paralyze them with magic and so on.
    So Caster controls the air around them instead, preventing movement.
    The hair-splitting makes a difference.
    To that end, I’m going to have to go with Ramkin on this one.

    On another note entirely- woot- I can get Sprites from Project X Zone now! Ohhhhh I’m gonna get so many nice things!

    @LadyRamkin
    I’ll do a rough calculation for Link’s iron boots from Twilight Princess later on. This will be to see how heavy Link is with those on. I won’t be considering clothing, sword, or shield, though.

  22. LadyRamkin October 21, 2015 at 10:24 am -      #722

    Thanks

    Though it was almost unanimously decided that twilight link gets stomped.

  23. Friendlysociopath October 21, 2015 at 3:51 pm -      #723

    I think i might be dead

    Is that so? If you’d like I’ll go kick a dead match where Link was destroyed.

  24. LadyRamkin October 21, 2015 at 3:54 pm -      #724

    “If you’d like I’ll go kick a dead match where Link was destroyed.”

    Bring it on.

  25. Mea quidem sententia October 21, 2015 at 6:28 pm -      #725

    @LadyRamkin
    I’m concerned with the weight of Link’s iron boots. If I know the weight for the iron boots from TP, then I’ll know that the iron boots aren’t as heavy for WW Link, which means I’ll have a reason to believe that Link will be thrown back by the force of the hurricane winds.

    I’ll consider the iron boots in the form of a cylinder and a triangle. Link is at least 1.7018 m. This is equal to 1,003 pixels.

    Cylindrical volume
    Leg height: 250 pixels; 0.42417746759720832092 m.
    Leg width: 95 pixels; 0.1611874376869392096 m.

    Radius: 0.1611874376869392096 m. / 2 = 0.0805937188434696048 m.

    V = pi * 0.0805937188434696048 m^2 * 0.42417746759720832092 m.
    V = 0.0086556534387456215543861060919697259135556487798723278529337547 m^3

    Rectangular volume
    Ankle to heel height: 78 pixels; 0.13234336989032900838 m.
    Tarsus to heel length: 70 pixels; 0.1187696909272182754 m.
    Tarsus to heel width: 70 pixels; 0.1187696909272182754 m.

    V = 0.13234336989032900838 m. * 0.1187696909272182754 m. * 0.1187696909272182754 m.

    Triangular area
    Toe to tarsus length: 83 pixels; 0.14082691924227319522 m.
    Toe to tarsus width: 70 pixels; 0.1187696909272182754 m.

    A = 0.14082691924227319522 m. * 0.1187696909272182754 m.
    A = 0.016725969672637115481304508647535923588 m^2

    Triangular volume
    Metatarsal height: 68 pixels; 0.1153762711864406347 m.

    V = 0.016725969672637115481304508647535923588 m^2 * 0.1153762711864406347 m.
    V = 0.0019297800128063615221686994563515567783426165327974213036 m^3

    Let’s add all of this.

    Total volume
    0.0086556534387456215543861060919697259135556487798723278529337547 m^3 + 0.0018668672696532123000818736978591581520846951986446944408 m^3 + 0.0019297800128063615221686994563515567783426165327974213036 m^3
    = 0.0124523007212051953766366792461804408439829605113144435973337547 m^3

    Quite honestly, I think I messed up here because I should have considered the possibility of the iron being an inch thick. However, if this is proper, then subtracting 0.0254 m. (2.54 cm. is equal to 1 in.), then I may have prevented the issue. This will give me 0.0129476992787948046233633207538195591560170394886855564026662453 m^3. Now that I have the volume, I can multiply this by the density of iron, which is 7,874 kg/m^3. This is equal to 101.95 kg., or 224.76 lbs. This added with Link’s weight of 148 lbs. based on Hamwi’s formula gives us a total of 372.76 lbs., ignoring his sword and shield. Percy’s hurricane should be able to push him back.
