From what I know about Talion and Rahl… this is a stomp in Rahl favor.
This is very interesting…
Talion has some ethereal & soul fuckery powers, from what i’v seen in gameplay.
However Rahls magic is kinda OP.
@Ragnorke

“Talion has some ethereal & soul fuckery powers”
–
He also have soul of Celebrimbor (he is the one who gives Talion all that power) inside of him. Celebrimbor managed to take on Sauron.

And at the end of the game he took on Sauron’s avatar:
–
So Talion/Celeb can teleport around? or was that power only because of the ring?
Which brings up the question… Why & how the fuck did Celebrimbor have Saurons ring?
@Ragnorke
–
“Why & how the fuck did Celebrimbor have Saurons ring?”
–
He was the one who made it. And after he realized how Sauron tricked him he took the ring and start war against him… Sauron won in the end though.
–
“So Talion/Celeb can teleport around? or was that power only because of the ring?”
–
Yes.
No they still can do it, only on smaller scale. Celebrimbor was a first age elf, and those guys are hardcore. Talion’s body just not strong enough to sustain all of Celebrimbor’s powers. This is why Talion need to steal enemy souls (or if he can’t kill enemy, parts of their souls) to allow Celebrimbor to use his powers. Celebrimbor also repairs Talion’s body each time Talion dies and teleport him into spectral realm, so Talion can regain consciousness.
But when Celebrimbor takes control over (he literally turns into Celebrimbor during this, although not in Celebrimbor in his prime, rather in weaker version) Talion’s body he can still do things like this:
–
I have no idea who either of these douches are.
Thanks for posting admin!
My original vote was going to be for Talion, but after doing more than just googling Rahl, I discovered that yes, his magic is kind of OP. Should I make it a swords only fight?
“Should I make it a swords only fight?”
–
It would be closer- although I think Rahl still takes it. Doesn’t he take on a good 30 blademasters at once? Blademasters being people who spend their entire lives training?

First thing first, I still think that Rahl feat superior to Talion’s IMO.
Talion beat about 300 orcs. This should count as canon, because it’s a part of sub-quest “legend of the Talion’s sword” and the mission is exactly says more or less “stay in the cave and kill orcs”.
And he bested Hammer who was avatar of Sauron’s physical might or something like that:
–
@Friendly: “Doesn’t he take on a good 30 blademasters at once?”
Doesn’t Talion kill Graugs with his sword? And the Warchiefs? And the Hammer and the Tower? Hell, Celembrimbor took on Sauron.
Does Rahl have defense against mind control?
Also in the video by Rookie Talion can turn invisible so does Rahl have the ability to see him?
@Epicazeroth
–
“Doesn’t Talion kill Graugs with his sword?”
–
It’s a bit more complicated than this. Uruks can kill Graug way faster than Talion, if you choose melee IMO. Hell, nemesis can take several Horned Graugs one-on-one and win. Talion however can mindrape Graug in an instant.
–
“Hell, Celembrimbor took on Sauron.”
–
Celembrimbor can’t use even 1% of his powers using Talion’s body. Talion have no numenorians blood in him. At all. First age elf like Celembrimbor would rolfstomp Rahl with ease if he could use all his power. Here? No, he can not, this is why they are planned to create new ring at the end of the game. While Sauron now weak, Celembrimbor is like nothing.
Here’s a battle against Tower, Celembrimbor protected Talion from being mindraped by Tower in the first seconds of the fight (being in the very presence of the Tower, who is something like avatar of Sauron’s magic, may force a person to become slave for Tower) :

My brief Google search on Rahl never said how fast his Magic lightning travels. Anyone have a call? Cuz then Talion could just teleport to avoid and try to decapitate Rahl.
At least the speed of real lightning, if not faster.
Reaction wise, he can turn around 180 and catch an arrow after it was shot… Not sure how that compares to Talion.
That’s impressive. In the game, it seemed to me he was probably peak human or something. Still not enough to lightning time. Whelp, Talion’s probably screwed then. Better luck next time buddy.
Next time you should probably look around BankGambling (or the wiki) to check characters before using them. It’s happened to me too so don’t think I’m making fun of you.
Yeah. I’ll be sure to do that, thanks for the advice.
“At least the speed of real lightning, if not faster.”

This is something I have NOT heard. Richard Rahl =/= Rand al’Thor, which might be what you’re confusing (because Rand’s magic lightning is the stuff that travels as fast as normal lightning).
=
IIRC, Rahl has something called a “Rahl Bond”, which tends to protect him from mind control. His magic also lets him create some pretty big explosions, and his subtractive lightning insta-kills people/sends them to the Underworld if it touches, so that’s pretty dangerous as well.
The way I see this going is Talion activates shadow of acharn (invisibility) then shadow strikes Rahl stabbing him until he dies.
—
Sadly I don’t know much about Rahl so I can’t say that this is going to actually happen. Really all I need to know is Rahl able to see through invisibility.
“He was the one who made it. And after he realized how Sauron tricked him he took the ring and start war against him….”
–
But… doesn’t this contradict both LoTR lore AND the cinematics you posted? Look at 2:25, what is Sauron creating if not the One Ring, as the lore stated, he did in Mount Doom?
“Sadly I don’t know much about Rahl so I can’t say that this is going to actually happen. Really all I need to know is Rahl able to see through invisibility.”

I don’t know as much as some, but I believe he actually does fight invisible opponents several times.
Additionally, he can pretty much decimate mile-wide areas with AoE magic and his lightning will immediately kill/BFR you if it hits, supposedly he can direct it at will to the point of killing an entire castle but only hitting enemy soldiers. He’s also got magical barriers but I haven’t seen most matches progress to the point where those were brought into great detail.
@Radnor
-after the arrow was fired from someone pretty close to him he turned a 180 pulled an arrow from his own quiver knocked it and fired it hitting the other arrow in the air splitting it in half.
@friendlysociopath
-he has fought invisible things and against multiple foes in complete darkness. His “gift”(magic) even gives him precog to danger along with an extremedy heightened perception of time while it’s actively or passively being used. He once felt danger and turned around and grabbed a crossbow bolt out of the air “not 3 inches” from a girls face and described that moment it would have taken to reach her was an hour to him.
@Aelfinn
“This is something I have NOT heard. Richard Rahl =/= Rand al’Thor, which might be what you’re confusing (because Rand’s magic lightning is the stuff that travels as fast as normal lightning).”

Most of the time subtractive lightning is used, its effects are described as being pretty instant.
May not be exactly the same speed of real lightning, but it should be in the same ballpark, give or take a bit.
–
@nsl
“That’s impressive. In the game, it seemed to me he was probably peak human or something. Still not enough to lightning time. Whelp, Talion’s probably screwed then. ”

Wait, i’m not saying Rahl’s a lightning timer. He isn’t.
I’m just saying his actual spell moves that fast. Not that he can cast it at that speed.
@Ragnorke
I know. I was saying Talion is not a lightning timer.
Interesting match. Watching this.
I don’t think Talion really has much of a chance. Rahl has extremely fast reaction speeds, able to catch cross bow bolts out of the air when he isn’t even turned towards where the bolt was fired from.
He has extremely powerful magic, and even if Talion can teleport, Rahl’s magic can easily AOE him.
Talion is a hell of a swordsman, but nothing at all like Rahl. Rahl fought 30 blademasters at once, and that’s when he was still relatively inexperienced. He’s also fought many dozens of invisible foes. Said invisible foes were scything through an army like a hot knife through butter, until Rahl stepped in.
Rahl has mind control resist.
@Ragnorke
So he doesn’t cast at lightning speed, that’s just how fast the attack itself goes? If that is so, does that mean Talion could still to the teleport decapitation thing I mentioned?
@ns18
It’s possible he could teleport out of the way, but I don’t see him eating Rahl at swordplay- which is apparently what this devolves into. Rahl has punched straight through armored men and he appears to have a speed advantage over Talion; I don’t see that ending well.
Yeah, I can see that too. This might not be much, but in that video Rookie posted, Talion was capable of striking armored Sauron and pushing him back.
“Most of the time subtractive lightning is used, its effects are described as being pretty instant.”
–
That’s a pretty big jump to go from “instant” to “1/3 the speed of light”, but it’s not like it matters here.
Just to be clear before post 50, this is Talion with Celebrimbor, not just Talion the human, right?
@gaurdian
Yes
Alright, good. Now it’s established for the rest of the debaters, and won’t be questioned when it’s revived 2 years from now X3
