I’l side with Hiei for now.

For both questions, incarnations on both sides matter.

If I were the fight suggester, I’d keep the EoS incarnations out of this unless confirming the EoS sides are equal in terms of capabilities, and go for most equal incarnations both sides may have, available.

Tell me the fight suggester has reasonable incarnations on both sides in mind, it happened too many times no such thing happened nor a will to listen.

    Good point.
Right now we use current versions of both characters, right?

Uh, the fight suggester just wanted to see the match- most likely with newest incarnations.

What’s an EoS incarnation vs a current incarnation? I’ve watched all of Yu Yu Hakusho but haven’t seen the movie, and Fairy Tail I’m only at the part where Laxus is a huge prick.

End of Series is what E.O.S stands for, actually.
I sense you ought to know this ASAP.*

I’ve only been here a month, first time I’ve seen it used.

Regardless, wouldn’t Current Incarnation be EoS?

What can current Natsu do? Does he reached island level in DC or maybe he obtained some hax ability by now?

Currently, Natsu is block busting and dodges lasers. Or at least something that is related to light.
    .
Destroying an area with a powerful attack. This was a really long time ago.

Note: I have seen Yu Yu Hakusho (known in the Philippines as Ghost Fighter for some reason) and I know that Hiei is absurdly powerful. Natsu will either lose outright or win with extreme difficulty.

Ah, so Natsu now relativistic in speed or\and have FTL reactions.

    Yeah he may win then.

“Ah, so Natsu now relativistic in speed or\and have FTL reactions.”

That’s kinda iffy. Natsu exclaims that it’s a laser, but Sting can also bend the “laser”, so FTL speeds for Natsu might have to be taken with a few tablespoons of salt, especially when you consider the rest of the characters in the series.

    Here’s the pages.

  12. pimpmage August 3, 2014 at 1:40 pm -      #12

Yeah… that is definitely not a real laser. If you could see it bend… no, just no.

Also, is it PiS to ignore attacks being called out in shonen mangas? If you call an attack out, wouldn’t that be considered giving someone an opportunity to aim dodge?

  13. Mea quidem sententia August 3, 2014 at 2:19 pm -      #13

It anime is up your alley, Hermit, go for it. I wonder what’s in store for tomorrow.

“Also, is it PiS to ignore attacks being called out in shonen mangas? If you call an attack out, wouldn’t that be considered giving someone an opportunity to aim dodge?”

I consider it CiS actually. Characters are silly for doing it, not the plot.
And it usually does give the opposing character the opportunity to aim dodge. Aim-dodging is far too common in anime :/

  15. pimpmage August 3, 2014 at 3:15 pm -      #15

I would say PiS. Every character in the manga probably does the same thing. And I bet It is never mentioned anywhere that people take notice of the names they shout out. It sounds like a general quirk of mangas that have 0 effect with combat

  16. Abominatus674 August 3, 2014 at 4:55 pm -      #16

Averted in Bleach, since its explained that calling out the name of the attack significantly increases its power. No real explanation behind it, though.

  17. Ragnorke August 3, 2014 at 5:03 pm -      #17

“since its explained that calling out the name of the attack significantly increases its power.”

Dragonball and naruto usually have name calling too, for no real reason that i know of.
Pretty sure none of the more modern animes do it…

  18. pimpmage August 3, 2014 at 5:15 pm -      #18

One piece does it, and that is the top of the top atm.

  19. Ninja Xtreme August 3, 2014 at 7:19 pm -      #19

Of course Yu Yu Hakusho is known as Ghost Fighter here in the Philippines, the name of the show is nonsense if we say it. I’m siding with Hiei in round 1, but with Natsu in round 2.

  20. pimpmage August 3, 2014 at 8:08 pm -      #20

Natsu seems suprisingly weak for a main character in a shounen manga. Are you sure city block level destruction is his limit?

  21. SgCombine August 3, 2014 at 8:49 pm -      #21

    @pimpmage

Midseries; his Lightning Flame Roar carves a huge tunnel 2+ kilometers long through an island. His more powerful attacks definitely aren’t limited to just city block busting.

“Natsu seems suprisingly weak for a main character in a shounen manga. Are you sure city block level destruction is his limit?”

It seems like he’s just the poster boy. Main character-dom seems spread between him, lucy, gray, and erza. Like how it is with the fantastic four.

So anybody got feats for Hiei? Never really readthe manga but I’m told that some of the characters get pretty powerful.

  23. Hermit August 4, 2014 at 7:40 am -      #23

    “GIF version of it”
    .
Whooooo, I must have missed that episode. I also only started seriously following the manga during the X791 arc.

  24. Hermit August 4, 2014 at 10:48 am -      #24

Sorry for the double post, I missed the five minute edit window.
    .
Anyway, the last GIF changed the way I view this match in that Natsu may have a chance to win, if he can dodge Hiei’s ferocious attacks long enough to use his roar. We’ve seen him dodge light-based attacks before (I am not calling them lasers) so we know he has some serious reflexes with in.
    .
EDIT: I just read in another thread that Hiei has mountain busting attacks. So never mind.

“So anybody got feats for Hiei? Never really readthe manga but I’m told that some of the characters get pretty powerful.”

Upon looking back, I may have requested a stomp… oops, I’m only mentioning things at the Dark Tournament point for right now.

Let’s see, he’s a fire demon that survived getting chucked off a mountain right after he was born to an all-female ice demon clan. Because of his birth he’s resistant to both extreme cold and heat.

He’s fast enough that he leaves afterimages of himself behind, at the very beginning of the series.
    img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110502215246/yuyuhakusho/images/c/c6/Yuu_Yuu_Hakusho_v03_c06_122_TFT_.jpg
Since then he only gets faster, although his top speed eludes me at the moment.

He’s also mastered a technique so hard to use God’s son himself thought it was impossible. (Course, God’s son is a toddler so a small grain of salt is needed.) The Dragon of Darkness Flame summons the flames of the demon world to create a dragon that attacks the opponent, devouring them and sending them to oblivion.

Oh, and his CIS is, “Kill them now, I’m bored”

  26. Hermit August 4, 2014 at 11:36 am -      #26

“Because of his birth he’s resistant to both extreme cold and heat.”
    .
If that is true then Natsu’s fighting ability is crippled. His main attacks use flames in one form or another, and though fire is not equal to heat it is still the extreme temperature that is damaging.
    .
In short, Natsu is pretty much screwed.

  27. Friendlysociopath August 4, 2014 at 12:08 pm -      #27

“If that is true then Natsu’s fighting ability is crippled. His main attacks use flames in one form or another, and though fire is not equal to heat it is still the extreme temperature that is damaging.”

I will be honest, I completely forgot Hiei had fire resistance when I suggested this match XD I’m a bad person.

That said, he hasn’t shown resistance to the degree of heat Natsu is supposed to put out, at least I don’t think Hiei has, doesn’t Natsu get hot enough to melt metal?

  28. Numinous One August 4, 2014 at 7:06 pm -      #28

    www.mangareader.net/fairy-tail/305/17
Not quite melting, but from personal experience judging how far the heat has spread from the point of contact and the shape of the bend, it should be getting close. Steel becomes soft at 538 C and melts at 1370 C for reference.
Assuming Natsu has a fist width of 100mm, the heat looks to have spread roughly 400mm either side of his hands, 538 C is nowhere near hot enough to spread that much heat so quickly.
There were other instances but that one sprang to mind after watching the new anime.

“The Dragon of Darkness Flame summons the flames of the demon world to create a dragon that attacks the opponent, devouring them and sending them to oblivion.”

Natsu has shown to be able to eat demon flames, Jackal’s in particular, and we may see more when E.N.D shows up.
Although Mashima has been hinting at Natsu being E.N.D, which I hope is true, Rave showed that Mashima knows how to do high tier characters well.

Until then though, I don’t see anything stopping him from being splattered by a mountain busting punch.
Unless he can get off one of the lightning attacks that paralyze the muscles on contact.

  29. pimpmage August 4, 2014 at 7:45 pm -      #29

Natsu can shatter mountains with a punch? Got scans?

  30. Numinous One August 4, 2014 at 7:48 pm -      #30

“Natsu can shatter mountains with a punch? Got scans?”

Hiei can, I was saying Natsu can’t do anything about that.

  31. pimpmage August 4, 2014 at 7:50 pm -      #31

Oh, you didn’t post names on your last post, so I had to guess.

  32. Numinous One August 4, 2014 at 8:04 pm -      #32

Ah, my bad. I thought the way it was worded would of been enough. Probably should have clarified.

  33. captain napalm August 21, 2014 at 7:20 pm -      #33

Yeah, I’d have to go with Hiei based on simple power…Yusuke and Sensui’s fight knocked over a mountain just with its aftereffects, and they were both low S-Class at the time. If I recall correctly, Hiei was a mid S-Class by the end of the series, and could get a further boost by merging with the DotDF. So…yeah.
